ditto. Smart don't make you cool.

I think smart is much more attractive than some muscly sports guy who doesn't know what I mean when I say Hermeneutics or something else like that. It means there will actually be intelligent conversation...

For those who read Alex's Livejournal

I don't know about you guys but I find it a strange coincidence that Amanda and Alex cross paths again right into Alex's "refuge" - his dance classes.

To me it sounds like Alex was still after Amanda and was probably taking up dance classess to impress her. Or maybe Amanda knew Alex was skilled at dancing and wanted to find out how good he is..

I don't know what do you guys think?

I don't know what Alex went through to make him come to this site, but it seems at first he was trying to look for some hope. However this is what he gets.

First he gets a "God may not have created some mystical "soulmate" for you, but if you submit your will to His He WILL guide you to a good spouse"

Then he gets this

"God doesn't have someone for each and every person. Not everyone is meant to be coupled off. Some people are meant to remain single."

Can we say being quoted out of context...

For the record, here is what I actually said.

What are the spiritual beliefs of these people? I've heard of Deepak Chopra - I think he's Buddhist, isn't he? I googled the other two and didn't find any indication that they're Christians. I'd be very reluctant to base my faith in God on anything a non-believer said about Him ...

What do I think? I think the best way to help Alex now is either to pray for him or to converse with him directly via email - not to discuss and analyze the details of his blog amongst ourselves as if it were a novel and we were a book club. :sorry:

(Than again, I don't have a livejournal so maybe I just don't understand the etiquette ... )

I definitely second...errr. third this. If we aren't praying for him, or discussing with him his decisions, then it seems like we will find ourselves doing something rather akin to gossiping. And that is not a Godly trait.

Precicely. I'm waiting for him to come back to the thread to actually contribute anything further.

I haven't read anyone else's post, but if you don't trust God because you can't find a human partner, then you never had any Christian faith to give up on.

Some people are meant to be single. That is the truth. And it's okay.

I have never met anyone who based his or her religious faith on whether or not they could get a girl. I think you have some serious depression or some other mental problem going on here to make such a drastic and arbitrary decision.

I am sorry that you haven't found love with another person. You know, the sad thing is that your love affair with your Father could be so much more fulfilling than what you are looking for, if you'd open yourself up to it.

Some things really are that easy.

Smokkie, please forgive my brashness, but I need to settle my suspicions...

You don't seem to have posted in any other thread aside from this one, which, again forgive my brashness, seems strange for an older, engaged woman. You also keep asking us if we have felt like Alex has and what we think about things that Alex does.

Are you really Alexander, or are you related to him in some way?

Thought this myself several times over the course of this thread. Just wasn't sure if I was going to bring it up.

Thanks, TriptychR!

Love!

Considering how this thread was started on the 27th of July and "Smokkie's" Join date was the 28th of July and Smokkie's first post was on that same day in this thread and all of Smookies posts have been in this thread only....Also based on the nature of the posts, I would have a hard time believing Smokki is anyone other than Alexander. If this is so, no one is judging you Alex, just so you know. We just want you to be ok and want the best for you.

I feel sorry for you, Alex. Those quotes that you posted there-it seems that one of the ideas is that everyone on this Earth isn't meant for anybody to settle down with, and that some people don't get mates because of God's will. I really really REALLY beg to differ...for realz...

Again, I am sorry you didn't get ur all out of the faith...
Quite frankily, I'd be darned and down in the dumps if I found out noone was meant for me...most likely

Sorry for interrupting or w/e, but I couldn't help but ask that I bet noone on this thread believes in what Chopra or Dyer or anyone like them says...just wondering, heehee
again I would be darned if noone was meant for me-:|

Unfortunately, I don't know who Chopra or Dyer are. If you could please point me in the direction of what they have to say, I would greatly appreciate it. :)
