KIEV (Reuters) - A man shouting that God would keep him safe was mauled to death by a lioness in Kiev zoo after he crept into the animal's enclosure, a zoo official said on Monday.

"The man shouted 'God will save me, if he exists', lowered himself by a rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions," the official said.

"A lioness went straight for him, knocked him down and severed his carotid artery."

The incident, Sunday evening when the zoo was packed with visitors, was the first of its kind at the attraction. Lions and tigers are kept in an "animal island" protected by thick concrete blocks.

The man obviously misread the long ending of Mark. He was supposed to handle snakes, not go play with lions. Although, one might argue that he was being called to a ministry like Daniel's.

I hope everyone recognizes that I'm certainly not serious. I also recognize that this is a type of tragedy for his family, friends and for the name of Christianity.

He did mention God and he seemed to have faith in God but this doesn't mean anything. He could have easily have been a Jew or a Muslim.

I don't see that it matters whether or not the man was Christian, Jew, Moslem or whatever. He was mentally ill. No-one does that without being mentally ill. So there is really no discussion, except to feel sorrow that his illness was not stabilised, and sympathy for his family.

At a guess he was either schizophrenic, or in the manic phase of bi-polar.

So Mike did you get your answer, they were all good ones, well maybe not all, but most.
Down throught history men have tryed to prove there is no God. In pslams there is a verse that goes something like this. A fool has said in his heart there is no God. But in the Hebrew the words (there is) is not really there. So you could read it like this The fool as said in his heart, NO GOD.

Not sure if the fool jumping into the lions den was trying to prove there is a
God or disprove. either way he was a fool.
