I just found this portrait of John Wesley-- founder of the Methodists... and couldn't resist posting it here, even though it is big....

Just take a look at that hair!!

I wonder how people think that Methodist taught a woman must have long hair and a man short hair? How long is 'long', and how short is 'short'? Wesley's hair was pretty long, at least by today's standards.

And we won't even discuss his clothes...;)

Father,

Yes, I can remember issues from when I was 6 years old, and I definently can remember further back than that. I can remember back to 1990, and hey I was 2, but yes I can still remember sucking on a bottle. And yes, the Baptist being against pants is not isolated to our town, I have family in W.Va and I have been to that church often, and it's Baptist, and you won't find a women wearing pants. This past thanksgiving, a family member of mine who was another denomination, asked what the family was wearing and their remark was "I have never worn pants to church a day in my life and I won't start now", and I was 16 then so yes, I can remember that. I also went to hear a Gospel Singing on a Friday night, at a Baptist church, again not a woman wore pants. It is in the Baptist denomation as well. But, please don't tell me what I can and cannot remember. My point is not to stress the fact that women should only wear dresses and skirts, I have not made my opinion on that known in this thread although I have in others, it was to make a point that not only the pentecostal denomination was holiness at one time, and pentecostals did not start the doctrine of holiness, an example, the Church of God (Cleveland) (which I belong to, and had to read all the history before joining at 15, so I can remember) started with a man named R.G Spurling who was baptist and preached the holiness doctrine, then other preachers (i can't recall their names at this time, if you need their names I can find them)from the Methodist and various denominations, and they preached holiness before forming the COG. So for other preachers of other denominations to break and form the Church of God (formed in 1888, the oldest pentecostal denom. that I know of) then the holiness doctrine had to start somewhere other than the pentecostal denomination. That is the only point I'm trying to make, someone said that it was made up by Pentecostals and that isn't true, that's all I'm saying.
