The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. You will eventually find the method that works for you, although as I'm sure you're all finding out, the main thing is willpower. I don't know where it comes from, but boy, I know that if I could bottle it and sell it, I'd be a rich woman. I tried and tried umpteen times to give up smoking, I lost count of the number of times. I read every book, tried every method, in the end I know it came down to willpower - and I wish I could tell you the secret of obtaining that. Obviously, prayer is essential for God to grant you the desire to quit, and the willpower to see it through. I quit 6 years ago now, after having smoked 20+ cigarettes / day for 19 years. I do remember how hard it was, and how much I would beat myself up when I failed once again. But I do truly believe that each person has to find their own path out of this addiction, and that the Lord is the main stay of any attempt. God bless you all, I will keep praying for you, because I know how hard it is.
