  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I found some assorted things that had been missing for a while today

Two small icons of St. Paul and St. John Vianney. I am looking for nails so I can hang them on my icon wall, but we don't have a lot of hardware in this house so I might have to cannibalize some from somewhere else.

I also found my charcoal tablets and my frankincense, but I fear that my burner is lost (or possibly was thrown away because the frankincense is the real kind, the resin not cones or sticks). So I'm currently trying to figure out something to light a charcoal tablet on so I can get that glorious FSSP church smell in my room... the same smell that's been haunting my memory since last Sunday.

Do you have a metal dish of some sort?

No, I have a ceramic one and I might go get some sandy soil from outside and make a buffer so the heat doesn't crack it open.

I had a nice brass burner with sand in it, but I'm pretty sure my mom got rid of it even though she was the one who bought it for me initially when I was in jail and she was moving my stuff back into the house. I don't remember ever using it at the woman's house.

I also found a sort of round glass container with a cork that I'm going to bring to the church and fill with holy water tomorrow, since the holy water in my container is a few years old and I think it's only good for a year from what I remember my nana telling me "You get fresh holy water every year"

I'm glad I found the incense because the smell of the FSSP parish has been burned into my brain all week. I've been smelling it out of nowhere.

I actually dreamed about that church last night. The altar wall being painted to resemble the night sky had a major affect on me.

I found something better than sand: spare aquarium gravel. This way, no bugs or fleas, mites, etc will be in there. And now my room smells like Christ the King FSSP parish!

If only I could find some nails to hang the icons of Sts. Paul and John Vianney, that would be great but I think we've used every small nail we had in the hardware drawer. I suppose I could do it with screws, but I don't have an impact driver so I'd have to drive them into the wall by hand and that's kind of a pain in the neck for my tremory hands.

Glad you found a good solution. Wish I could give you some nails. I have a ton of them!

God made a way, I found some small ones which works fine because these icons are only about 3 inches high by 3 inches high by 2 &1/2 inches wide. I've got all four of them up on the wall now surrounding my icons of the BVM and child Jesus, the transfiguration, and Christ the Pantokrator (that my cousin Phil a Ukr. Greek Catholic priest sent me one year): St. Paul, Archangel Gabriel, St. Monica, and St. John Vianney. I moved the woodburning I made of St. Dymphna to the table with my resurrection Triptych, 3rd class relic of St. Maximilian Kolbe, and my statues of Mary and Joseph... where I light my candle every night before I pray the rosary. Above my window (eastern facing) I have a crucifix and above my bed I have an interesting picture of Mary and child jesus that says: S. Maria de Perpetuo Succursu, veto imaco miraculis clara venerata on it. It's pretty old and apparently was made in Rome.

I want to get some money together so the next time I go to Latin mass, I can visit the book store and pick up some neat stuff that they have there. I am surrounded by holy stuff & have like 6 different translations of the bible.
