• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

This morning i had a few blasphemous thoughts against the Holy Ghost while i think i was countering thoughts im not sure to be honest . And what i am so afraid of is that th were thoughts i thought of my own free will.
I want to believe they were just automatic they certainl;y were not premedidated , but i cant be sure if i have really truely commited the unpardonable sin.

Do you have OCD Picassoui? If so, this is something that is perhaps out of your control. I believe there is a big difference between intentional blaspheme (even if you take the most literal interpretation of that scripture) and OCD. And I'm sure God knows the difference and understands.

From what I understand, OCD manifests in different ways. I know of someone who also suffers from this that has random violent thoughts, but I do not fear him and do not think he is a violent person. I know it's the OCD.

I will pray for you brother and hope you find peace.

Ditto to everyone else's post. It's just the OCD. That's the way it works. If you can get to the place where you truly understand that these thoughts have NO spiritual significance, they will lessen and eventually fade. The problem is the OCD, not blasphemy. Even the debate about whether it was intentional or unintentional is OCD.

If someone says, "Whatever you do, don't think of red monkees!!!" Well, what's going to come into your mind? You got it~~red monkees! Whereas, if no one said that, the concept of a red monkee would probably never even enter your head! Same here. It's the fear of it that's driving it. Again, that's how OCD works.

In jc's defense, I don't think he was trying to belittle you or make light of your situation. I think he was trying to point out the absurdity of OCD. And we have ALL been there - thinking ok it was OCD last time, but this time, it might not be! That's what OCD does. It's how it operates. Once you conquer one fear, it brings out another scarier, more twisted fear. OCD gets to us by making the obsession feel different each time, enticing us into its bidding by promising relief from reassurance or figuring out the puzzle with just one more round of rumination.

Bingo. You are SO right on target, SAD. My own counselor sometimes does the same thing--tries to get me to see the ludicrousness my OCD obsessions.

i wasnt belittling his situation or making fun of it. I say the same thing to myself all the time to help me realize the absurdity of my fears.Theres no way i would make fun of you considering all that ive been through.

you were trying to help me by joking about the most serious thing in all the universe . you were trying to help me by by basically saying that my fears are absurd .. i call that vile .

But you are forgiven so what was said or not said is a non issue ... lets move on and try to help one another.
