CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Anime is just like watching a TV show...except animated. There will be some things that don't make sense because they are part of Japanese culture and some things just don't translate well.
Manga is good stuff. It can motivate kids to read -- it's like a comic book.

I've been into anime since I was 11, I'm 18 now. I was into when it was cool to pick on kids who liked it.
Pocky at Suncoast is overpriced anyway. World Market is by far cheaper when buying Pocky in my town. Mitsuwa in Chicago (when I go visit my boyfriend) is even cheaper. XD Though I always stock up at conventions.
I used to want to work there back when I was in my Otaku phase. Now I really don't go there much anymore. *shrug*
I've also found manga to be a big waste of money too. I have so much manga. I added up all of it, and I found that I spent at least $400 not including tax on all of it. What can I do with it after reading it?
I'm really beginning to see anime fandom as a big waste of money anymore. I love it, but the stuff is so expensive and time consuming. When you're actually working your butt off for every dime you make, and you see that you're not getting anywhere, but you have a whole lot of anime and manga to account for it... things really start falling into perspective. I need to save up for an appartment and a new car. So... I don't spend nearly that much money on anime and manga related stuff anymore. The only thing I really have been spending a lot of money on is cosplay (which is even more time and money consuming when you're a nitpick and detail nut like me). All of these, I'm severely cutting down on this year. I have more costumes than I can wear at one con anyway. *shrug*

Although one thing I am thankful for for learning about it so early...I didn't really go through an Otaku, über-obsessive stage. The closest I got to that was when I was really into Robotech, which was about 7 or 8 years ago (and looking back, that was pretty bad
). Now most people chalk my interest in anime and Japanese culture up to me just being eccentric, although me liking anime isn't usually noticable unless I tell someone, so it kind of balances out.

when i first started getting into it (which may have been earlier than I said previously) I would watch a show on Sci-Fi every now and then, but i've always sci-fi and never liked it for some reason.

They had a bunch of movies for sale in the 'random-toys-and-other-dollarstore-items-clearance' section. I about had a heart attack. xD They also had this big pokemon card movie thingy about the card game, and some speed racer I think.

That be this guy right here. I've been watching anime since I was a young pup. I used to watch this cartoon called Unico and some other like Samarai movie (can't remember the name of it. It was when I was in the single digits of age). Now of course my tastes have changed since then of course for more action and drama packed Anime.
