Yesterday, during the Paschal Hymn to the Theotokos, I got so emotional I couldn't sing. Just stood there with tears of joy running down my cheeks. What a beautiful and joyful hymn! As I stood there, composing myself, I could easily imagine all heaven singing along in praise of our most holy Lady Theotokos and Her Son, who is Risen from the dead and is King over all things! This has to be one of the hymns of heaven!

At 2:02:21, you can listen to our choir singing. When we got to the point where we cry out "Shine, shine, O New Jerusalem" . . . yeah, that's where I lost it.

I always feel that way with that song. In particular though, the first time I heard the congregation sing this after everyone was gone for with COVID shut downs, I pretty much started crying as well. I was in the skeleton choir without a congregation in person at Pascha, so hearing the parish join in again…..hearing that joy……absolutely beautiful and very touching to the heart.
