"But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner-not even to eat with such a person." I Cor. 5:11

I don't have a Bible verse right now for this, but all throughout the Gospels God sat with these people, He had dinner with these people, He kept company with these people. Aren't we supposed to talk to these people?

hate the sin not the sinner, i think he was saying dont sit with them. try to help them, talk to them, but dont be their best friend. In psalm 1 it says "Blessed is the man who doesnt walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers." if you make provisions for sin then you are more likely to do that sin. and yes we are called to talk to people and minister to them when they fall. hope this has been of some help.

ACTUALLY, the key part is "named a brother" see, we ARE supposed to sit with normal people who do that and try to help them, and try to see Christ. That is not "dangerous" to our souls. However, it says dont keep company with anyone named a brother who...then it makes the list. A brother is a brother in Christ. So, that means we should stay far away from those who claim to be Christians, yet get drunk and are sexually immoral. They are "blasphemy" to the faith. But yes your right about the Gospels, God sat with all kinds of people. But I'm not sure if earlier they were BROTHERS in Christ he sat with who did such things...I'm sure he would not

The Corinthian church to which Paul was writing had been having significant problems with apostacy. (That means confessing to be a believer while not believing in your heart.) Paul was addressing this issue for anybody who considered themselves part of the church but lived in unrepentant sin.

This verse does not teach to separate yourself from unbelievers. It teaches not to call someone who is obviously not a beleiver "brother."

We should evangelize to unbelievers but not count them as members of the body of Christ.

There is a difference I believe in speaking to someone and say going to a club with them.
