Why carry? God protects you
I'm not seeing how this is politics. It looks more like a blog post.
tulc(thought that should be pointed out)![]()
then it should it be about that, not you explaining why you carry, when the thread is set up like this, it's about you, not about guns. See the difference?Sorry to break it to you. This IS political.....it's called gun-rights vs. gun-control.
God gave to us our lives, and we have a duty to defend that life.
The very idea that God will protect us is pretty shortsighted. It's
based on the premise that as long as we live in America (where
our laws still protect us so far) that we will never be touched by
violence.
I also have a duty to defend the lives of others, if that ever comes
to that, including non-Christian's. I'm not looking for a fight, but
what better way to witness under dire circumstances, then to prevent
an evil person from harming someone, and letting the world know that
not all Christians are passive.
Most Christian's have lived pretty sheltered lives, and most still
have no idea what the world is all about. I'm not suggesting I do.
But I do know more than most of the Christian's I've known for
years.
Proverbs talks a great deal about not rushing in before you have
your facts straight. Proverbs talks about using the common sense
that the Lord gave to us, and not (as the old saying goes) "fools
rush in where angels fear to tread".
I never once in my whole life needed a gun, ever, and I have been to places you people with never wish to go.
God protected me all my life.
I still do not need to protect my life.
Turn the other cheek means just that, not I will shoot to save my life.
If you try to save your life you will loose it, if you loose your life for the sake of the kingdom you will save it.
I suppose I'm suggesting "shoot to eat food".
If I suggested that wearing shoe's is bad, surely you'd understand then.
Peter brought a sword to defend Christ, and now he is the Rock of the Church. Go figure.
and can you post five times in the book of Acts that Christians used swords to defend themselves?
tulc(thinks those would be some handy Scriptures to know)![]()
If you try to save your life you will loose it, if you loose your life for the sake of the kingdom you will save it.
I'm afraid you have no idea what that scripture means.
As far as you having never needed a gun, that's good, we don't carry because we know we'll need one, we carry, just in case we do.
You must have a hard time with police officers shooting people or prison guards defending themselves against violent prisoners. But if you think you can kill some one with your gun and call it self defense, God knows better.
You must have a hard time with police officers shooting people or prison guards defending themselves against violent prisoners.
The scripture means, you are trying to save your own skin when you use a gun to kill another human. When you could have turned the other check, suffered carrying your cross.
I don't think you know we are to reject this world all together and lead others to do the same.
But if you think you can kill some one with your gun and call it self defense, God knows better.
Now I am not your judge and will not judge you or any one.
But when Jesus said you live by the sword you die by the sword he also was talking about any weapon.
And its a fact, you want your gun rights?
Live by the gun and die by the gun.
Save your life in the scripture means your worldly life, I's not referring to physical life and death. We lose that life for Christ. Basically, don't be of the world
Either way, David defended his people with a sling. Yes he depended on God, but showed his faith by doing all you are saying not to do. Personally, if my family is in danger from unreasonable men, I'll gladly take on the responsibility and hope God steadies my aim.
Between someone who does nothing while him and/or his family are being murdered, and the one who at least tries to defend himself/family, who wiould you see as the good man, the one who watches his family slaughtered, and said they have faith or the one who shows that faith and defends them?
