  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

no he wouldn't as He didn't have an impure thought about a woman.

According to what it sounds like you think impure or lustful thoughts are, then yes, he would have, otherwise he wasn't tempted in every way that we are.

don't think sexual thoughts about another person's spouse.

Yes, exactly, but that's not what the OP is experiencing.

In Biblical times, it was seen as patriarchal and women were supposed to be subservient to men. Society isn't like that anymore. Saying someone has an "obligation" like that is backwards thinking, especially if on member of the marriage is expected to force the other into something they don't want.

you do realize that the husband has the same obligation to the wife in that passage right?

You have a point, but it's not like couples are together just for the purposes of producing children and that's it. Also it says in other passages that women are not to have any authority over men and wives must learn in submission.

I'm not sure what you think my definition of impure/lustful thoughts is if you came to this conclusion.

Yes, exactly, but that's not what the OP is experiencing.

then he wouldn't be gay.

I'm gonna go ahead and end the exchanges here as i think i've maybe triggered some people who are working through some personal stuff.

my goal was to encourage the OP in that there is hope and forgiveness in humble submission to Jesus.

Any kind of attraction is lust since you quoted my statement about how there's no biblical support that homosexual attractions, by themselves, are sinful even if they remain celibate and never act on them with Matthew 5.

then he wouldn't be gay.

Where is this coming from? You were talking about how Jesus was saying that sexual thoughts about someone else's wife are sinful and I replied that that had nothing to do with the OP since as far s his post says, he's not having sexual thoughts about someone's spouse.

Greetings my dear Christians !

All my life, I've never actually given any attention to religion, but it's been a year since I have been talking to a really close friend of mine who's Christian. I can tell him everything I feel or everything I think. He is very open minded, but one day, I told him I was gay. He was shocked. He told me that I will go to hell if I don't change, because it's against the will of god. I got really scared, so I tried the best I could to change. I've been praising god for the last months, I've been doing the sabbath and everything a good Christian would do. But I still can't change my sexual orientation...I was born that way, as an abomination, by god and I also can't change my destiny of going to hell...Please, tell me if I can have a bit of hope on my side.

Thank you, sincerely, Goldon.

God loves you. You're not an abomination.

Christians disagree about homosexuality, & there are Bible verses to deal with - hedrick provided a link earlier in the thread to "the Gay Christian Network," which provides good summaries of the two main Christian viewpoints on the topic.

There are churches that are generally accepting of gay people out there. There is hope!

Let us know if we can be of any help.

Thought I'd respond to the OP and the word abomination.
Its an interesting study to go thru the OT and see how this word is used. I was surprise when I did it. My count was that 80% of the uses was around idol worship and they others were undefined with regards to idol worship.
So I feel the OT verses that use this word and male sexual contact are talking about a sexual contact that includes idol worship like happened in the ancient fertility temples.
