I believe God wants me to leave my home, my family, and walk away on a journey. I have believed this for many years, but I've always been a coward to do it.

I honestly believe that I am supposed to get up and walk away (I already know which direction to go, but I do not know where it leads or whats on the way) on foot.

I about ready to leave my home tomorrow and go away. I do have my doubts, which obviously is why I am here today

If you are going to do it, tell your family why at least.

But why do you feel like you have to go? Just a gut feeling, or a dream you had?

I don't think it'd be a good idea to tell you what to do, but here's what i would do:
If I strongly felt that God wanted me to do something, I would a) have NO doubts b) and I would leave my home and family in an instant

Be safe.

What direction are you headed? Are you speaking of a geographic direction, a career direction, a ministry direction? You don't appear to be planning to tell your family, so I'd ask why not? I'd like to help - but need more information. In any case, do what the Lord directs you to do. Are you certain the Lord wants you to take this move?

Greetings Dave ,

When I was about your age I headed out on the road and traveled about for quite some time looking for a place , I've now come to realize doesn't exist on earth at this time ... so now that search has turned inward , seeking The Kingdom of God within .

By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
<-----> Hebrews 11:8-10

And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God comes not with observation:
Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
<-----> Luke 17:20+21

Pray without ceasing , take good heed , and be selective of who you get involved with .

Greetings,

When God calls, He first will give you a starters kit. #1, of the idea is you will know His voice. #2, there will be "no doubt." #3, you will have a hunger inflamed by a passion to carry out His will for you concerning the kingdom. #4, He will put people in your path to speak a word of conformation. #5, each step will be a path guided by the Holy Spirit. #6, all your business will be in order..Elisha was found plowing the field when Elijah went looking for him. Before leaving he request to go and bid his father and mother goodbye. His request granted he kill oxen , cook it and had fellowship with his family.

There are even more to make this journey began and end with the glory of God upon you....for its Him that will receive the glory.

God is not a Father that sends His children out on a journey filled with confused and aimless missions. There maybe mysteries along the way and in between, but He will give divine instructions for the steps you are taking is ordered by Him.

I'm sure He has called you, just seek Him to give you revelation on when and where to start.

Remember: No limits can be placed upon any one who has the passion to believe and obey the word of God!!

The thing is this, if God told you to do something then you have to believe and have faith that God knows whats best for you. God will give you what you need to complete such a journey. But be sure that it's God that's telling you to make such a journey. If it is in fact God telling you to go then without a doubt you need to be about your Fathers business.

You can "do it all" or you can do it all and do what is right ;)

Why not plan the escape with your wife and kids? Why jumping into a situation that is not quarrantee you any success.? Not everybody who "run off" from life make it "better" that is pure speculation. The hard part of running off it to what are you running at....

I mean I can see someone running off to a foreign country if he has citizenship and can work there..I can see someone going back to his parents to help them financially or to a friend who has promised them a job etc. But to "just run off" is IMHO an act out of impulse. I think age has nothing to do with "opportunity" esp. with our Job Market as it is today. If you already have a job I would think thrice about doing such a thing.

Also if you have children I cannot imagine how you will not miss them :(

Guilt can be a terrible thing and I think when you will be also looking back it will not be too pleasant. Kids do remember things that their parents did when they were young :(.... IMHO These situations act as a boomerang and you never know when they will hit back at you.

If you are looking to relocate to get a good job opportunity then that is a different case senario then .

God be with you.
Prayers

If you are going to do it, tell your family why at least.
And make sure you tell them!!
Set up some solid modes of communication, and back-up plans.

I know someone who tripped on a sidewalk hole and was stranded with injuries and no phone.

I know parents who stayed up all night wondering where their kids disappeared to, driving down streets looking for accidents, only to find out there was a pre-planned sleepover the kids neglected to mention.

Bring a notebook to write down your experiences, a camera, and good ID. Don't forget your toothbrush.
