  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know I should not be worried and actually I write this message just to help me calm down. I recieved the info that I was not accepted to university. I have been several years at home after senior high school due to mental problems and concentration difficulties. I studied at home very hard this last year (Englsh basic studies through open university) but I still did not get into university. Sice I live in a very small town, and don't have money of my own (I live with my parents) I'm not sure if I can even take singing lessons at the nearby town. Singing is very important to me and I would really like to take lessons. It seems that I'm stuck here with no friends and other things that I want. I think it would be fair if I had the opportunity to take singing lessons after summer, since I studied so well last year.

everyone gets to that point of their lives wher they get anxious a/b the future, so it's prety normal, especially at our age, and i know what it's like to want certainty of your future and having to wait for it. maybe this is just a time God is using to teach you something, b/c we all know God is always doing that. it's one of the many characteristics that makes God so great. if you just spend time with Him and draw near to Him He will bless you and give you an amzing future you couldn't even ever imagine. Maybe He wants to teach you patience or to just put your faith in Him. just remember that His will is going to be done, but also that He'll do what will help you live more abundantly. if you are walking close enough to God, you'll be able to see His hand in all that is going on and all that you are going through, even if you don't see it until later, in retrospect. rejection from a university might seem like the end of the world right now, but it's not. God has something better and if you pray about it and stay inHis word, He'll reveal that to you in time. I'm going through the same sort of thing right now, and I'm just now starting to see God's work in my life this past year, so i can sympathize. about the singing thing, if all the glory is going to God, i can bet that there will be some sort of opportunity that presents itself to you. i don't want to sound cliche, but keep your chin up and keep going. calming down is a good first step...;)

Sometimes talking things out really helps...I hope it worked for you here...

Here's a good passage of scripture that might also help you out:

Lamentations 3:19-22
19I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall. 20I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me. 21Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: 22Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.

According to 1 Peter 1:6-7, sufferings and trials, or anything that makes us worry are promised to us, but they are temporary and they come so that faith in Christ and the sufferings he went through may be proved genuine and result in praise, glory, and honor.

The times we are down are the times God can shine and lift us up. As long as you are within His Will and "compassion" you will never find yourself without hope and reassurance for your life.

Genny Owens sang some very encouraging words in one of the songs she made famous:

"God never said our lives would be easy, but He did say we would never be alone!"

Thank you Linndseyk3 and JeCrois! Nice to get encouraging replies! Lindsayk3, you said that God will give me amazing future. However, I find myself douubting it, since for example, my mom today said that there are many people who are not really interested in anything. They just work, take care of their families and things like that. My mom is one of them, I think. Today I realized that I am not interested in University studies, and perhaps not in singing either, I mean that they are not the things I have great passion for, and I can't say that I would be exited about anything else more...

So is it that some people have more passionate approach to life, and some people just don't have it?

It seems quite sad if one has not anything to feel passion for...

Today I was quite angry, but after my fit my mom gave me a kiss, which is one of the best things! (it happens very rarely now that I'm already over twenty) And she said she doesn't mind me being at home still. I think she kind of enjoys that I'm still staying :) .

I'm glad you're feeling better. And you are right, our lives don't last very long here on earth, but it sure does feel long while we're here! When it's over and we are with our Father it's something we can get past, but until that day comes it doesn't seem soon enough sometimes.

So that's why God promises that He will make things worthwhile if we live in His favor! I'm sure you know that famous scripture in Jeremiah..."For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." He has our future already mapped out!

As far as you feeling as if you have no passion...if you love God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength......then there's your passion. People tend to go overboard worrying about that "specific thing" that they think they need to accomplish with their lives, and if they can't find it then life is just an empty void droning on. But what we all need to realize is that our life is not our own. It is by the grace of God we are even here!

So...if you feel that you've come to the point where you can't find that certain thing that you know beyond the shadow of a doubt you must do...stop and take a moment to reassure yourself that your life is the life God has given to you...a life that he has mapped out already that will prosper you. Your passion comes from knowing that you are fulfilling the work of the Lord!

JeCrois nailed it. Also about your passions, and figuring them out, just remember that God uses clues already in our lives to let us know what we may be passionate about. Look at things like what you're good at, reflect on the unique personality God planted in you, but also try new things! this is the time in our lives where we can get away with stuff it seems and people expect us to go a little nuts, so go crazy and do something you would not do other wise. Alot of times when you're out of our comfort zone, God will surprise u and i think that if you do that God will reveal to you important things that may shape you future. continue praying and getting into God's word. God bless you and keep you.
