  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

We had to pick up my 13 year old granddaughter after school today. So I parked the car (a very uncool 10 year old Toyota) and waited. My wife says don't wave when you see her. But I had my window rolled down and when I saw my granddaughter I just stuck my hand out a little so she would see where we were. She gets in the the car and the first thing she says is, "Grandpa, don't wave."

Well....we have to pick her up again tomorrow so I promised I wouldn't wave. But I am thinking of bringing a sign with her name on it, like drivers picking up people at the airport use. I'll just hold it out the window. Or maybe one of those big foam hands formed into a number 1, like you see at sports events.

What do you think?

I think you'll be suprised at how angry she might be.

I think you're an evil genius! :D
I doubt I am a genius, and I am usually not evil. But I probably won't do anything at all. I got it, I'll stand outside the car, wearing a trench coat, hat and sun glasses, with my arms folded, like Matthew Broderick did in "Ferris Buehler".

I am hoping my Toyota makes it to 20. But I am a tall guy, and in a few years I might have difficulties getting in and out of it (and the antlers make it worse). I know, I'll give it to my granddaughter in a few years! But I'll glue a hula girl bobble head in the rear window, and put an AARP sticker on the bumper.

I probably wouldn't do it if she just said "thank you for picking me up."

True. I'm just going by what my 16 year old would do. Apparently, its an absolute no-no, which I once found out the hard way... :D:confused:

I am learning. But saying thank you shouldn't be a no-no.

She is also the grandchild, who just a couple of years back, told some friends that her grandparents were visiting. When asked which ones, she said "the fun ones." I really, really loved that. But she is a teenager now.
