raphe.... can you explain to me what you mean by "standing in the gap"? I am not familiar with this term... and I dont really knoiw a whole lot about fasting either. I mean I know you go without eating, and durring eating times you pray... but I donno I guess I would want more info about ir before I go ahead and do it.
Hello... Standing in the gap is a Biblical expression taken from Ezekiel, and it means to intercede for someone else in prayer - stand in their place as an advocate. This is what Jesus does for us. When you love someone, you can stand in the gap for them and ask God for them in prayer.
Fasting and prayer is recommended by Jesus in scripture for demonic possession. When a person goes ahead and enters into sin, they may enter into league with spiritual elements that need to be addressed and opposed in prayer. This should be done if that is discerned by you or another Christian friend, which brings up another good point for prayer. Find someone you can pray with in agreement - find a buddy or friend with a like mind about your other friends. If not another young person, find a youth pastor or elder you could trust so that agreeing together, the Lord will act according to your prayer. Remember too that the Lord's will may take time to be seen or mainfested. Ask for all God can give you in faith for your friends, as there is a gift of faith.
Fasting is just not eating anything and spending time with God. Perhaps skip a meal or two and read your Bible, finding scriptures you can stand on when praying for your friends. Many people through out the Bible fasted, even Jesus, and it is a sign of how genuine and sincere ones intentions are towards God in their desire for an answer. Blessings to you, and may you be built up in the Lord to do His will and work.

Ezekiel 22:30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

Matthew 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

Matthew 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
