  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am now officially

free speech at work.... taking the bitter with the sweet.... if we can talk, so can they....

some things about free speech can be hard to swallow, I admit....

as far as a country needing forgiveness, the US is in line right beside you....

Right, and the next time an atheist tries to run that lame line that they have more times than I can remember ----> "but atheism is not a belief system, it's not a religion, it's not something organised," I'll be sure to refer them to their "campaign."

Ashamed of my country.

"All aboard the atheist bus campaign"

I'm not. I am rather proud that our brand of atheism is not the strident kind, and even when trying to promote its message, says only that God probably doesn't exist.

Only in Britain could this happen, and I think it is truly wonderful. :D

I have seen plenty of the Alpha advertising all over the place, and nobody complained about that, so why not let the other side have a go? Nobody dies, nobody is hurt; nobody breaks windows or burns effigies in the street; that is what a free country is all about. We can be truly proud that we live in a country where Christians can tolerate atheism, without resorting to violence against them. And vice versa.

There is much for any country to ask God's forgiveness for, but a bus campaign? I doubt it bothers him, one little bit.

Oh I have no problem with freedom of speech, but this is the last straw for me. London will stage the Olympics with Europes largest Mosque as its centrepiece. Is Britain a Muslim nation? No it is not. And now campaigns by Richard Dawkins and his ilk....whatever. I believe what David Pawson said is true now.

Yeah, and the MESSAGE of the campaign that He probably doesn't exist even though He sent His only Son to die for us, I dunno, maybe it doesn't bother Him.

Tell me, what did those buses say last week?

Nobody knows, and nobody remembers.

So much for bus campaigns. God is not bothered. :)

We have His assurance that the the Gates of Hell will not prevail against His Church. In Coptic Egypt the faithful are attacked, physically by misguided Muslims; I suspect the UK can survive a campaign of bus posters.

What it has not been so good at surviving is the slow, but sure, emptying out of the deposit of revealed Truth and its replacement by a secular ethical set of values which, whilst admirable in themselves (tolerance, fairness, equality) are, nontheless not a substitute for the Revealed Truth that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that if we confess Him Lord and receive Him into our hearts, then life eternal can be ours.

Truth is a person, the person of the Risen Christ. Campaigns on buses are not half as deadly to the UK as the refusal in some Christian quarters to confess Christ, and Him Risen.

peace,

Anglian

Right. And when a nation (a Christian one, no less) chooses an Islamic Mosque as its showpiece to screen out all across the globe, what is that "confessing"? Certainly not Christ, and not Him Risen.
