Thanks for those questions they do give me some things to think about! but i am on the pill due to cysts on the ovaries.. causing major cramps furing mentraul times, pain to the point of passing out! not fun! i have been on these since i was 16. i am just concerned that this is concidered a sin, and i don't know what to do!?!?!?
Ileany,

Please, please:prayer: stop taking the pill for this condition. I have had this problem too, and it was the pill that caused it! Ovarian cysts are the result of estrogen dominance and taking (more) synthetic estrogen will not solve it. I suggest you get to a naturopathic doctor soon to learn of your alternatives. One of the best is a low-carb. (especially sugar) diet, low in animal fats. The condition can be cured/managed by diet/exercise/supplements. The pill is one of the most dangerous synthetic chemicals you can take. There are numerous books available on Amazon that deal with the history of the pill and politics behind it. Surf the web and educate yourself about ovarian cysts and natural treatments. You don't need powerful fake hormones to deal with it.

BTW, God bless you on your journey home! :priest:

Because you are taking the act that God ordained as holy and you are altering it to suit you and it is not longer holy when you do that, it becomes sinful and selfish. Taking the physical act and separating it from the procreative act is not of God.
Biblical???!!!!

As for carly...Im sorry but that your expositions are just so distorted. Did you actually read the verses you quoted? Ive never seen anyone take something out of context the way you have...repeatedly. Its awful!

Welcome!

I too am a Lutheran convert.

AS far as the BC issue, it is always good to see exact;y what the Church saya about these issues.

Pope Paul VI in Humanea Vitea wrote:

15. On the other hand, the Church does not consider at all illicit the use of those therapeutic means necessary to cure bodily diseases, even if a foreseeable impediment to procreation should result there from—provided such impediment is not directly intended for any motive whatsoever.

Excuse me but if respecting our body and the marital act, respecting the way God made us and our spouses fertility, the way we were created and not taking it upon ourselves to change something about that so we can benefit from it, so we can be in control, is not biblical, then I do not know what to tell you.

How’s bout you post for me some scripture where God actually okays us to practice contraception artificial or other, show me where God say, "do what you gotta do so you don't get pregnant, I’m leaving this choice up you, everything else, even you finances I want to be in sovereign control of but your fertility is your very own to govern over and control” Tell me, where does God say this?

What I do not get about Protestants is that you will give everything over to God, you commit your life to him when you get saved and you follow him where ever he leads but you will not give him your fertility, it baffles my mind.

My husband and do work shops on Natural family planning, and the truth of contraceptives..and we come across this alot.. and we dont understand why people cant trust Christ about this either?!

I would also like to add that the Birth control is actually an abortifacient.. although it is not its number one cause- it can cause early abortions.

Simple, because it just is to much of a self sacrifice so they search over the bible and say, 'well it does not forbid B/C so we are free to do as we wish', but the bible does not give B/C permission either.

It is a shame, because Protestants weren’t always like this, up and until the 30’s it was not practiced and if Catholics and Protestants read the development and the origin of the birth control pill, there hair would stand on end to find that Margaret Sanger advocated for the pill because she saw children as a burden on women, preventing them to travel and enjoy life as the men do.

She was a racist and she was actually in Hitler’s camp before he became to hot for her to associate herself with. She thought we should contracept to preserve a certain social element in society, that Black and Hispanic races were to poor to have children and did not deserve them for this reason and only rich people should be privileged to have them if they desired them.

Her train of thought was poverty will keep breading poverty and that our society should only be filled with the strongest and best, not the diverse and the poor.

B/C is a highly controversial issue in and out the Catholic Church, no one has judged you here, we are only steering you straight.

Metanoia said it best. You are not in sin here Ileany11.

If this weighs on you, speak to your priest about it and then speak to your doctor about potential alternatives... especially if you'd like to have children there must be a way to curb these symptoms and/or cure the cysts without having to remain infertile your entire life.

Please dont feel judged...we welcome you here. Conversion is a journey, not a overnight change.

It takes a long time for us raised outside the Church to lose the things that we were taught...and that isnt your fault at all.

I was raised Lutheran but I dont neccessarily Identify as one anymore. I tend to lean to Catholicism.

Welcome to ChristianForums and to the One Bread, One Body Catholic forum.

Why are you leaning? That's bad for your posture.
Eventually, you need to stand up straight.

If you have any questions, please ask. If we can help straighten your stance, we will.

The Peace of Christ be with you,

Girlie, I dont think its a sin, God wants you to be happy, and having mentrual pains and fainting from cramps will not make you a happy caper...and im sure God understand why you take it and he knows that its not birth control, but to make the pain less. It also helps your skin and all those things, so sweetie be sure that God knows what youre doing, an He is not interested in seeing you in pain. Yes its a controversial subject, but I believe that it is not a sin. You are doing the right thing bc the bill, yes it s afom of birth control...WHEN YOURE HAVING SEX but youre not! its for MEDICAL reasons:) so in my opinio youre ok sister:) MUAH LOVE YOU!:) hee hee
