Maybe consider not all "law" is the Sinai covenant? Rather The law tells of the covenants.If I knowingly want to be justified by the Jewish law, then I turn away from grace through faith in Jesus and want to be justified by deeds of the law. I would then turn away from Jesus and come under the curse:
4 So you also, my brothers, were put to death under the law through the body of Christ, that you might become another's own, even the one who was raised from the dead, that we might bear fruit to God. 5 For when we were in the flesh, the passions of sin, which are by the law, worked in our members to bring forth fruit of death. 6 But now we have been freed from the law, having died to that in which we were held, so that we serve in the new nature of the Spirit, and not in the old nature of the letter. Romans 7:4-6
The letter of the old covenant law kills. Jesus' word is spirit and life:
The Sinai/Horeb covenant was not made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob....
Deut 5:1And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them. {keep … : Heb. keep to do them }
2 The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
3 The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
Israel the nation was called out to bring judgement on the nations...It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh is of no use at all. The words that I speak to you are spirit and are life. John 6:63
It doesn't mean the law is bad. The law is good, holy and righteous, but it was given to us so that we might recognize our sinfulness, that we cannot be righteous on our own. We need God's grace, which is in Christ Jesus:
19 But we know that whatever the law speaks, it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may be guilty before God, 20 because by the works of the law no flesh is justified before him ] can be; for through the law comes the knowledge of sin. Romans 3:19-20 10
Ro 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
As Deuteronomy says Sinai was not made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But with the nation of Israel.For as many as are of the works of the law,[3] they are under the curse; For it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do all that is written in the book of the law.”[4] 11 But it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law; for “the righteous shall live by faith.”[5] 12 But the law is not of faith, but: "The man who doeth these things shall live by them."[6] 13 Christ ransomed us from the curse of the law, becoming a curse for our sakes (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,"[7]) 14 so that the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that through faith we might receive the Spirit that was promised. Galatians 3:10-14 8 For it is by grace that you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; 9 Not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
Rom 3:26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
The law of faith from the beginning?
Heb 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
Gen 26:4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;
5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
