While I am blessed to be educated well beyond my limited intellect, I am just not all that smart, so I have no idea why we have all this concern about testing and the delay in testing and the shortage of test kits etc. What is the point? What if we could test all 330 million people in our nation, what if we could accomplish that all in just one day, all we would know is that some people are positive and some are not. So what if we did the same testing the very next day, again we would find that some people were positive and some were not but they would not necessarily be the same people that had that result the previous day because some would no longer have the virus (most people recover) while some people would have just become infected. So unless we test every person in this nation every day we are only going to get random results based on the size of the test group. Now it is true that we would be able to identify those that are positive and isolate them but even without testing anyone who has any of the symptoms is instructed to isolate for 14 days and not to seek medical assistance unless their condition degrades to a level that indicates that it is necessary. So like I said, I am not all that smart, so tell me just what would we accomplish that would justify all the manpower (the test is done by trained medical personnel that are in short supply) and resources (gloves, masks, swabs etc also in short supply) that testing requires?

The idea of all the responses to Corona virus is to slow the spread. I don't think anyone expects to stop it entirely, although that's China's claim. The medical system is overloaded as it is. The virus is making it worse. If the spread can be delayed, it gives time for the medical system to respond more effectively. 100 million cases in a couple of years is easier to manage than 100 million in a few weeks. Will it work? I don't know.

1. During the lockdown we are all practicing social distancing so that we don't spread the virus. However, if you were tested positive, then after 14 days you could return to your normal duties without worrying about infecting others or getting the disease.

couldn't you become reinfected when you returned to your normal duties and then infect others? My point is that a person could be negative one day and positive the next. Testing or previous infection will not change that as far as they know now.

As a rule once you recover from this viral infection you will be immune. The few people who seem to have "gotten it again" are more likely to have been cleared too early. It takes 2 weeks to be over it, not just when there is no more fever.
