I getting tired of debating with spiritually blind and spiritually deaf people. I have said my piece, moved on and lurked around. I think I should be boycotting General Theology Section for awhile LOL

I just received a PM from a WOFer regarding MY false teaching about doctrine of suffering. Anyway, I deleted it before I opened it. I don't need aggrevations anymore.

Randy's correct though - the thread on predestination is getting more and more "out there."

If you haven't been following it then I'll bet you didn't know that:

John Calvin preached one of the biggest lies ever told. His writings say that little babies who he did not choose before birth will go to hell and suffer.

Now I can't tell you how happy I am that someone cleared that up for me. Here I always understood that God, in His grace and mercy, receives those who die in infancy (even though they are born sinful). Foolish me (is my face red).

Oh my, Just cant understand why people want to expound on something they have no understanding of, especially on the Reformed theology they seem to all have the strangest idea of what it is and none are close to truth!

Pretty much anything man naturally thinks about God is wrong. We imagine a god and then proceed to shape him to our view. That is what goes on in the minds of those who despise the truth. Of course Jesus didn't fit what the people of His time thought He should be either.

Just so. The god's of other religions often look just like their petulant followers.

Flash! He still doesn't. As witness I offer any of a hundred thousand or more posts here that are talking about an entirely different Jesus than the Bible does.

Boy, that one was scary! I think the internet and it's aninimity (sp??? I'm trying to say anonymousness...) gives folks boldness to say things that they wouldn't say to someone face to face.

I've had many discussions with people over the years about how our society has become anti-intellectual in many ways, esp. via our educational system. I believe it has crept into the church. I know too many very well educated people who cannot articulate their beliefs let alone have a reasoned debate. I have found it to be true for almost any arena of beliefs be it religion, politics, child-rearing, you name it. Oftentimes, Reformed folk are accused of not being gracious or kind in debates because they expect those they are debating to follow the rules of debate -- i.e., logic, etc. As frustrating as it is, we must continue to pray that God will open their eyes. We must pray that we would make our calling and election sure and test everything against Scripture.

Definitly agree with above posts! What wonder when we 'see' for the first time! I can identify with Job and how he knew his own eyes would behold Him in that day also! 'Mine own eyes will behold and not another'.
Agreed also that today the great problem is in the church where people are not being fed the pure Word of God but mostly a 'feel good, motivational talk' which allows them to leave the service feeling good but are still as lost as ever! Scary! Makes me so thankful for a pastor that exegetes the Word of God in all of its truth! We are fed three square meals of intense truth weekly! I thank Him and pray often for those who are still without such Truth in their heart, that God will give them a heart to know Him!

Sadly, it's pretty darn scary what some people think - for example, the person who started the thread Predestination - the Truth who said, " Someone mentioned that there are some things in scripture that constitute a bitter pill to swallow. I say that with god, there are NO bitter pills! You can quote scripture all you want. It will not sway me"

Pretty bad of us to use Scripture in establishing our doctrinal truths.

I am like you, coming back here and post where we all understand reformed theology. Yes... its very scary over there. Some people's theology of God is really out of it.

I tried to make one guy to aware that suffering does happen regardless what he believes in. No avail. and in fact I think he found new followers.

Yeah, the scriptures I offered were, of course, refuted with other scriptures. I got a pretty lengthy response from this guy on them. According to him, what it basically comes down to is that God's will can't interfere with our own.

And God obviously said a lot of things in the old testament that He didn't mean.

I can't understand how someone can take one scripture and say: Because of this scripture here, that scripture can't possibly be true. The Bible doesn't contradict itself, but that's what they are making it out to do.

I totally understand! I don't even want to go in there anymore, really. I just want to share God's word when applicable or appropriate and just get out. If they can't see the truth in God's word right in front of them they will never hear you out. There's no point in arguing really. And I don't like to argue...
