• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hey All,

Just wanted to give you all some encouragement through my experience. I have now been quit for 3 years! Praise the Lord! I smoked for around 10 years and had tried many times (even lasting a couple of months) before falling back into temptation. I can now say, even though I get the occasional urge, I don't want to do it. In fact it is so hard to remember that I did. I don't think about it constantly and I have to remind myself somedays of my past! I can even sit in a room full of smokers and have no desire. That is a real blessing!

Anyway thank you to all of you have prayed for me and inspired me along the way. It has not always been easy but the Lord has been my rock and strength through this time of need.

God bless!

Nice! I bet you're feeling a lot better for it and are glad you're not spending the money on smokes.

Definately! I am enjoying not smoking. It is weird as I am now helping others quit smoking! Things you never thought could happen actually do!

Well done to you too! 9 days is an awesome effort! Take it one day at a time and you will get through it. Every day reaffirm your commitment and then read how much healing has been going on in your body! It is empowering to remember that you are doing a great thing when you get tempted! God bless

Congrats Evie on making 3 years - I am only a new non-smoker as I 've been quit for only 9 days, but with the love of the Lord and constant :groupray:, I am getting through it :)

Keep it up, I found it easy for the first couple of weeks but then it got a little more difficult after the novelty of the effort had worn off. But it was only difficult for a couple more weeks and now I have been off the filthy cigs for almost all of this year and now have virtually no urge whatsoever.

All the best.

That is awesome! Keep us updated on how it is all going. I must admit that most days I don't even think about it. It is like High School - a distant memory that doesn't affect my daily living!

Blessings and good health!
