Hi,
I'm going in for my yuck-o-gram tomorrow. I'm feeling a bit psyched out about it, but I know it will be good for me. Also, My aunt decided to send me baby presents for my birthday as sort of a "I know it will happen soon" gesture and I am trying not to feel negative about that. I'm not sure if she understands how long I've been trying and how long it might be until I actually have a baby. I know she means well. Please pray for a good test and a good attitude. Thank you.

Thanks for asking.
It hurt and part of the "rigging" broke so they had to do the owwy part again. I watched the screen and saw my whole-self light up, and the doctor said everything is where it should be with no blockages.

Basically, I've got regular cycles, nothing is misshaped, and my hubby's tests are normal. I guess we'll have to go back for more info later. We've decided to take the summer off of trying hard (charting and whatnot), so we will wait a while before going back to the doctor.

For those of you who may have to get this done, it was not as bad as I thought. The worst part of the test hurt like too much pressure (like gas pain). They said that I would be crampy for the next few days, but I felt fine 2 hours later.

Back to the drawing board.

They put a catheter into your cervix (that’s the owwy part), then they shoot dye that lights up the uterus and fallopian tubs. This way they can see if there is anything misshaped or blocking the tubes.

It took about a half hour because one they had put the catheter in, the balloon broke and they had to start over again. But if it went as planned, it probably would have only taken 15-20 minutes.

yeah it's pretty cool. When I had mine done we saw I had a septum. They couldn't get the catheder in my cervix so it took them forever with me too. They were poking and proding trying to get it in... ouch...

I've had 2 done. One before surgery and one after to see if my uterus was normal.

If you want to see pictures of an HSG and a septum you can go to my charting home page
*well apparently not... I can't post a website til I have 15 posts - maybe in another few posts I'll post it.*

The test can actually be theraputic too. If there have been many cases where women have gotten them done and gotten pregnant right after. I asked my sis (a doctor) why and she said that can be something small and weak blocking the tube and the pressure of the dye rushing through can break through it.
