Hi all,

Have any of you been diagnosed with hypothyroidism? I hope that is Ok to discuss here. I just was recently and I am wondering what others' experience have been and what your symptoms were and how long it took for the medication to take effect. I've been on it a week now. Thanks! (I'm in my early 40s hence the reason for posting here.)

I'm in my 40s and have been on thyroid replacement for about a year. My dose has gradually gone up.

Some people find that it is helpful from the first day. If you feel absolutely no benefit over the next week or so, it is likely your dose will need to boosted up.

Fatigue has been my biggest symptoms by far. Perhaps some decreased libido but that is confusing because age alone may be causing that.

If your test result were very abnormal, your health care provider may be willing to escalate your doses faster but usually waiting at least 6 weeks to check blood and adjust is what is recommended.

My usual dose is 112. I have a supply of 125mcg that I have experimented with but must be a hair to much because I feel great in the day but have insomnia with it.

It is difficult because fatigue is such a difficult symptom. There are a lot of things that contribute to my fatigue and that is true for most people. Sleep apnea and vitamin D deficiency are still underdiagnosed. Make sure you're not anemic.

Tell us more about your story.
