Hypothetical: Mormon In America

Hypothetical situation.

Someone who is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, that is, a "Mormon", is elected to become the head of state of your country (president, prime minister, et cetra).

What do you do?

Why would that involve doing anything different than when someone who's not Mormon is elected? In the USA, at least, there is no religious litmus test for running for or holding office.

I mean, your hypothetical already came fairly close to happening with the Romney campaign a few years ago. As I recall, that was a net gain for Mormonism even though he didn't end up winning (as it generated more interest in Mormonism on a national level).

What I always do.

We have had committed Christians, lukewarm Christians, and maybe-or-maybe-not Christians as president of the US for 200 years. A "Latter-Day Saint" as president is not an exception to the tradition in our country.

What I would do, is try to spread the message of the centrality of the Cross to all, be they president or pauper. I believe the LDS church would get much more attention; I also believe it would be an opportunity to encourage them to view the central message of Jesus' atoning death with more urgency.
