  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Good morning,

What's the verdict on hypnosis for weight loss?

Thanks and God bless.

Denise M

PS. I'm kind of chuckling -- I had forgotten my character is holding a banana split! :0
kdr, hypnosis is demonic. It puts someone in a passive state.
God expects us to work hard and to be responsible.
My friend lost lots of weight by walking daily. Here was his menu.
He ate oatmeal and some fruit for breakfast. Around 9:00am he
would eat a protein bar then at lunch he would eat Campbells soup
with crackers and then at 3:00pm he would eat another protein bar, then in the evening he would have chicken or fish or beef with vegetables. After two weeks of doing this, his metabolism cranked up
and the pounds came off. He would also drink a few gallons of water a day. I couldn't believe it was him when I seen him after six months.
The human body when it's not fed correctly thinks it's in some type of fast and retains fat.
I'll take that banana split :)
Thanks,
TT

I agree. I would think long and hard about approaching hypnosis. You may be opening a door to things you want nothing to do with. Having said that, I wll pray about your weight loss situation. I am overweight and understand the struggle.:groupray:

Hi Denise, keep away from it completely, it's demonic.

Once that person hynotises you, then that person has control of your mind, it's also called "mind control".

If you want to lose weight, then do it the natural way, and take one Gos-pill, two times a day.

Campbell soup and crackers to me would get old. Did your friend eat any other menu for lunch or dinner?

He would eat different flavors of soups. His theory which worked was making sure the body didn't stay hungry. He said his metabolism after a couple of weeks kicked in and started to burn the fat. Very interesting.

Regular meals are definitely the key. Weight loss isn't easy, but there's absolutely no reason to go hungry.

I would personally recommend more fat in your friends diet, but that's great that it worked so well for him! And a multivitamin (which everyone should take). Protein bars and campbells soup are pretty void of nutrients.

And kdrmckinney, you don't have to stop eating chocolate! We all need something to satisfy that sweet craving, or else we have a greater risk of failure. Just make sure it's dark chocolate (>70% cocoa), and stop after 2 squares. :) It's loaded with antioxidants and contains healthy fat which will actually improve your health and help with weight loss (if kept in moderation)!

God Bless!

Personally, I don't believe hypnotism is demonic, and I don't believe you can be hypnotised to do something you are morally opposed to. However, regardless of that, hypnotism isn't going to do anything on it's own. I think you'd be wasting your time and money.

At the end of the day, the only sure fire way to lose weight is to adjust your diet, and get lots of excercise (Getting a friend to come with you to the gym, or go jogging with you makes it much more enjoyable! I regularly go jogging with a friend of mine, and it's a great opportunity to have a chat, and get fit at the same time).

Best of luck with it!

We are called to be alert at all times. Hypnosis is a forced state of semi-consciousness...far from alert.

Hypnosis lowers our mental guard and leaves our spirit open to attack.

It has been proven to be effective (fleshly speaking) for many people, but it is a very dangerous practice.

When a person does hypnosis, then a person goes into altered state of consciousness. Biologically what happens is the cerebral cortex gets blocked which is the part of the brain that computes reality. The other part gets open which is the penial gland which the new agers, hindus and other religions do when doing meditation within themselves which is a form of altered state of consciousness as well as self-hypnosis. They want to open the third eye to be in touch with the spirit world or their spirit guides. Yes, the demonic comes in. A person has to shut their mind off. God's word says to be active. Satan's way is to be passive. Hypnosis is causing your mind to be passive and causing changes in the brain (there is scientific proof check it out and google it) in which I talked about opening the penial gland which is the third eye. Sometimes people who do hypnosis their result in time is tormenting dreams because the door to the second heaven has been opened. Satan wants your mind. He wants to control you and hypnosis is one of the ways which is not of God. Another problem it causes is a person will, if they do hypnosis long enough, start having panic attacks and dont' know why becuase their cerebral cortex is blocked. It might not show up for months. Many times a person will have problems with concentration because of hypnosis. They have a hard time reading the word or staying awake in church which are some of the symptoms of hypnosis. That is why it is dangerous because it is not God's way and it is bypassing the problem and issue and bypassing god to trust him with your food.

Hypnosis is a form of divination. Who do you think people who are mediums get to that place? They learned to go into self-hypnosis and something else comes in.

I hope this helps.

Thanks so much for advice. My inclination was that hypnosis could invite the unholy, but I wanted further counsel -- which I got!

I sense that my tendency to overeat has some unconscious, emotional elements. I will trust the Lord to show me in his time, in his way and I will take one day at a time.

Thanks and God bless.
