Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What are your favorite hymns? are you familiar with this website? http://www.cyberhymnal.org/

Here is my favorite Hymn: http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/i/t/g/itgarden.htm
I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.

Refrain

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

Refrain

I’d stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.

Refrain

THE OLD RUGGED CROSS

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

Refrain

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.

Refrain

In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

Refrain

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.

Refrain

This is one of my favorites from the site.
http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/i/n/ineedteh.htm

I need Thee every hour, most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine can peace afford.

I need Thee, O I need Thee;
Every hour I need Thee;
O bless me now, my Savior,
I come to Thee.

Have any of you ever sang this song? I haven't but i love it because it's title is my theme. http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/a/l/l/allforje.htm

All for Jesus, all for Jesus!
All my being’s ransomed powers:
All my thoughts and words and doings,
All my days and all my hours.

Refrain

All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
All my days and all my hours;
All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
All my days and all my hours.

Let my hands perform His bidding,
Let my feet run in His ways;
Let my eyes see Jesus only,
Let my lips speak forth His praise.

Refrain

Worldlings prize their gems of beauty,
Cling to gilded toys of dust,
Boast of wealth and fame and pleasure;
Only Jesus will I trust.

Refrain

Since my eyes were fixed on Jesus,
I’ve lost sight of all beside;
So enchained my spirit’s vision,
Looking at the Crucified.

Refrain

Oh, what wonder! how amazing!
Jesus, glorious King of kings,
Deigns to call me His belovèd,
Lets me rest beneath His wings.

Refrain

Oh, what a treasure it is to know and to love the old hymns! I grew up with hymns in Norwegian (and I won't post any hymns in Norwegian here, lol), but as I am a semi-oldie now, I have come to get to know and to love some hymns in English as well. I have recently bought the CD ''Hymned'' by Bart Millard, who is the vocalist in ''Mercy Me''. He sings many old hymns in a new musical ''wrapping'', and I treasure these deep songs and let my soul soak them in. Unfortunately I don't have a hymn book in English, so I have to quote from the CD's cover, and here's a hymn he is singing, or rather two-in-one:

MY JESUS I LOVE THEE/'TIS SO SWEET

My Jesus, I love thee, I know thou art mine

For thee all the follies of sin I resign

My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art thou

If ever I loved thee, my Jesus, 'tis now.

'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus

Just to take Him at His word

Just to rest upon His promise

Just to know ''Thus saith the Lord''.

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him

How I've proved Him o'er and o'er

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus

O for grace to trust Him more.

Yes, 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus

Just from sin and self to cease

Just from Jesus simply taking

life and rest, and joy and peace.

chorus

I'm so glad I learned to trust thee

Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend

And I know that He is with me

Will be with me to the end.

I love this one- Sydney Carter's Lord of the Dance..
Dance, then, wherever you may be,
I am the Lord of the Dance, said he,
And I'll lead you all, wherever you may be,
And I'll lead you all in the Dance, said he

They cut me down
And I leapt up high;
I am the life
That'll never, never die;
I'll live in you
If you'll live in me -
I am the Lord
Of the Dance, said he.

My favorite Hymn's are:

-Agnus Dei
-You Are Near
-City of God and:

Here I am, Lord

1. I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin
My hand will save.
I who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear my light to them?
Whom shall I send?
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if You lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

2. I, the Lord of snow and rain,
I have borne my people's pain.
I have wept for love of them.
They turn away.
I will break their hearts of stone,
Give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak my Word to them.
Whom shall I send?

3. I the Lord of wind and flame,
I will tend the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them.
My hand will save.
Finest bread I will provide
Till their hearts be satisfied.
I will give my life to them.
Whom shall I send?
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if You lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

i love the last verse!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/a/m/amazgrac.htm
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Shall be forever mine.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

I SURRENDER ALL

1. All to Jesus I surrender;
all to him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust him,
in his presence daily live.
Refrain:
I surrender all, I surrender all,
all to thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.

2. All to Jesus I surrender;
humbly at his feet I bow,
worldly pleasures all forsaken;
take me, Jesus, take me now.
(Refrain)

3. All to Jesus I surrender;
make me, Savior, wholly thine;
fill me with thy love and power;
truly know that thou art mine.
(Refrain)

4. All to Jesus I surrender;
Lord, I give myself to thee;
fill me with thy love and power;
let thy blessing fall on me.
(Refrain)

5. All to Jesus I surrender;
now I feel the sacred flame.
O the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory, to his name!
(Refrain)

HOW FIRM A FOUNDATION-I am especially drawn to the final verse:

The soul that on Jesus has leaned for repose,
I will not, I will not desert to its foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I’ll never, no never, no never forsake.

JESUS, LOVER OF MY SOUL--written by Charles Wesley
AH, HOLY JESUS-very pretty tune
SAINT PATRICK’S BREASTPLATE-I was born on St. Patrick's Day Eve, so I haave a great love for this song
BE THOU MY VISION-I'm Irish
ETERNAL FATHER, STRONG TO SAVE
HYMN TO A GRACIOUS SOVEREIGN-this is the best of the new hymns (it was written just this year)

I have heard Amazing Grace too many times that the tune is really old to me, but I really like the final verse:

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

The above is just the tip of the iceberg. What can I say? I grew up Southern Baptist-we love singing hymns!

... not sure if you may call it a hymn, but I like this one a lot:

IMMOVABLE ROCK

I will put my life in your hands
I will put my trust in your plans
I will put my faith in your call
you are my savior and Lord of us all

You are my refuge and strength
you are there when I knock
I know with you I’ve got;

an immoveable rock, an unbreakable bond
an unshakable foundation to build upon
no matter what storm blows my way, I won’t fall
with Jesus as my Lord I’ve got an immovable rock

I will put my heart in your care
I know I’ll be safe with you there
I will call your name in times of need
I’ll sing your praises to all that I see
you are my refuge and strength
you are there when I knock
I know with you I’ve got;

I HEAR MUSIC

(by David Baroni)

I hear music

No one’s singing

No one’s playing

I hear music

I am dancing

In the stillness

In the silence

I hear music

I am resting

In the stillness

In the silence

I hear music

Carried on the wings of Your Spirit

Bowing at Your holy feet

Your symphony of worship

Now I hear it

Waves of peace are washing over me

Your tenderness unspeakably sweet

I am singing

Deep within me

You sing with me

I hear music

In the stillness

In the silence

In Your presence

I hear music

I love Brian Doeksen's version of "True Love". Regularly has tears down my cheeks.
Fraid I haven't got the lyrics to hand but I'll be back with them later if I may!
Found them! Here they are:

True Love - David Ruis 1994
Jesus I need to know true love
Deeper than the love found on earth
Take me into the King's chamber
Cause my love to mature

Let me know the kisses of your mouth
Let me feel your warm embrace
Let me smell the fragrance of your touch
Let me see your lovely face

Take me away with you
Even so, Lord, come
I love you, Lord
I love you more than life

My heart, my flesh yearns for you, Lord
To love you is all I can do
You have become my sole passion
Cause my love to be true.
