lonnienord, that was my grandmother's favorite hymn as well, so it's got a special meaning to me.

My favorites are "All Creatures of our God and King" and "Praise to the Lord the Almighty."

Oh, what a treasure it is to know and to love the old hymns! I grew up with hymns in Norwegian (and I won't post any hymns in Norwegian here, lol), but as I am a semi-oldie now, I have come to get to know and to love some hymns in English as well. I have recently bought the CD ''Hymned'' by Bart Millard, who is the vocalist in ''Mercy Me''. He sings many old hymns in a new musical ''wrapping'', and I treasure these deep songs and let my soul soak them in. Unfortunately I don't have a hymn book in English, so I have to quote from the CD's cover, and here's a hymn he is singing, or rather two-in-one:

Amazing Grace is my favorite hymn....I can remember as a child singing that song at church with hands raised and tears streaming and after the song was complete we continued.....in tune with Amazing Grace.....

I have heard Amazing Grace too many times that the tune is really old to me, but I really like the final verse:

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.


The above is just the tip of the iceberg. What can I say? I grew up Southern Baptist-we love singing hymns!
