sorry if i sound mean the first sentence, but it is kind of true.

Your right. Often times Christians can be very abrasive and unloving. Some will even get right up in your face and call you names.

Although Christians are called to a higher standard, we are still humans. We will always fail. Christians are not perfect. We are simply forgiven.

To judge any religion or faith fairly I would suggest you to evaluate the source rather than the followers. So for Islam you would look at Mohammed, Christianity, look to Jesus. Bhuddist to Bhudda, and so on. You will find some striking similarities amongst them. However, Jesus is very unique.

Jesus
- Claimed to be the son of God
- Died and came back to life
- Performed numerous miracles in the name of God

You're absolutely right. Churches and their goers can be very abrasive. One must be very careful indeed.

There are nice Christians and mean Christians.

There are also nice people who are not Christians, and there are mean people who are not Christians.

It is very bad when Christians are mean, because they are not being Christ-like when they do that.

Even nice Christians sometimes have bad days when we might say something we shouldn't.

But don't judge all Christians by a few bad apples. :)

I know it's tough when 1 of our own kind hurts us. It's hard to understand, bcause arn't we suppossed to be more Christlike everyday towards our family members & the unbeliving world.
Im still working through some very painful untrue things that were said about me by other Christians & these where people I really trusted.:sigh: Things like this can be very painful.
I try to keep my focus on God & seek out people to be my friends & support that have/do produce good fruit in their lives. Cause after all I won't have to answer for those people that lied about me...But I will have to answer to Jesus for the thing I do & my life.

i'm sorry to hear about any pain from Christians.

just remember that we're all human beings, Christians or not. God's message of loving others as we would love ourselves, to love as Christ loved us, to have the fruits of the spirit is for HUMANITY to do, not just Christians. maybe we Christians can learn a lot from them non-christians eh?

i think it's also beneficial to remember that the best example is Christ when it comes to finding Christian examples. plus it's a great example when other people of all the religions know how to show the fruits of the Spirit and love people as Christ loved, and when they do unto others as they would do unto themselves.

God Bles you! <><

I will never forget the line from the movie "The Hiding Place" where Corrie ten Boom confronted her father as to the situation of a certain Christian Minister who would not aid the desolate Jews in Holland in order to avoid persecution himself and what her father thought of that. He said something to the effect of, "Because a mouse is in the cookie jar, does not make him a cookie!" and he was right.

Dear myquestions, please try to remember this important piece of info...

not everyone who claims to be a christian is a christian. Some people think that just because they go to church, that makes them a christian. This is not so, any more than going to Burger King makes you a hamburger!!!!!!!

Just as in the days of Paul, who warned us of such "beleivers," so there are people today in churches that are no more christian than the cars driving on the pavement. It is sad, but it is also true.

Blessings!!!

Hmmm.

Christians are human and human behavior runs the gamut from wonderful to reprehensible. In my personal experience, Christians, self included, behave no better as a whole than anyone else. Salvation doesn't mean that a given person is going to be any better in their earthly dealings with others than they were before. One would hope they might be inspired to be by their relationship with Christ, but don't hold your breath waiting.

Oh, and I've found that while all people are prone to human weakness, some are downright intentionally unpleasant. Saved or unsaved, if someone wants to behave like a jerk I don't hang out with them. There are several billion other people on the face of this earth to interact with.

Sorry to say, no matter what road you decide to follow in this life, you will find nasty or nice people - whether they are Christians or not. That's a good reason to rely on Jesus Christ for all your answers and help.

So you think Christians can be mean? Try being an open atheist in the Bible Belt. There are lots of hard-core Southern Baptists* just waiting to tear you up...

You know, here's the problem with Christianity and why it's so scewed up---

It's made up of people.

See, people, by nature, are evil. Unfortunately, some Christians hold on to thier evil ways, beliefs, desires or whatever.

People always corrupt things. Like America, the best country in the world, is corrupt because unfortunately, people run the government.

The same with law enforcement. Having law and people to enforce them is good, but again---
Law enforcement is made up of people.
So as a result, we have crooked cops, crooked lawyers and a some crooked judges, and from time to time, some screwed up jurors who let criminals walk.

I wish Christianity was exempt from the curse of human error. But were not. Even Paul had to rebuke churches in his day, (the Corinthians, the Galatains) even though at the time, the spreading of the Gospel and the power of the Holy Spirit was at its apex.

So what's the answer? Look to God. He's the reason we become saved, not people.

:)

Something else that is true, Christians are people just like you. The only difference is that they have found and followed God's plan for man. Should Christians have better behaviour than non-Christians? Sure they should. Do they? Sometimes yes and sometimes no. Something else that is true, some of the people that you think are Christian and even some people that call themselves Christian , are not Christian.

Bottom line: Don't base your response to God upon the acts and lives of other humans. We are all flawed, will mess up and do the wrong thing sometimes, no matter whether we are a Christian or not. Base your decision on God, not on man.

I believe God allows these for a reason. May be he wants you to believe in him because your heart chooses to believe (that's the requirement to receive salvation), not because you want to follow the believe of "nice" people.

To God, our salvation is much more important than showing his glory. I find that a lot of things can be explained by this theory.

I think some of the way Christians act may have to do with what kind of church they are in, not saying denominations. Fortunately, that issue was never much of a problem for me. I have had some VERY close and intimate friendships with people of all ages.

Then I went to a church when we moved here, and that kind of love was rarely to be found. It was more about people than it was about God. Now we are at a church where we have the doctrine (very important to consider when choosing a church), the love of others. It's real family situation, the body of Christ!

I know it's easy to be hurt and confused, but if a certain church is not comfortable for you, it may not be where you need to be to get the help, right teaching, strength, love and support we all need!
It's something you can expect to receive from a biblical church that teaches the bible and you understand the message.
