  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

God has been so gracious to my extended family and myself. We live in harms way of Hurricane Ike, and nobody was harmed. My brother in Law, who owns a vacation property in Seabrook Texas right across the bridge from Kemah, only suffered a broken tree, I lost a fence, a broken tree, some minor roof damage, and an electrical problem. FAR less damage than Hurricane Rita, which didn't even come close hit me with.

The time away from home was useful to bring my wife and myself closer together as well...

Tomorrow morning the chain saw work begins...

My friends and family have asked what they can be praying for, I tell them for God to be somehow glorified through this terrible storm...

I hear ya! We got hit with the tail end of Ike and winds for us got up to 80 mph. Aside from loosing electricity, our home and family are all fine! During our power outage I was reflecting on how our lives our so connected to electricity and cable and the internet and talking to friends on the phone. Its just amazing when you don't have those luxuries how lost we all feel. That really gave me pause for thought that as for me and my family we need to work on diminishing the dependency for all the technology around us.
