So I thought about this today while listening to the radio. I was listening to a Christian talk show and they were discussing Christians going to Texas to assist with relief efforts from Hurricane Harvey. They continue to talk about how this would show a good testimony as Christians and would demonstrate to the people our love for the Lord. This got me to thinking about this: how does this differ from any other relief organization? The Salvation Army, the American Red Cross, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jehovah's Witnesses, and a plethora of other organizations secular and religious that are doing what they think is a good deed. And of course it is. But how will a Christian going down there be any different than any other organization?

I don't know that it will, but some people feel a real need for some hands on service in a place that they can help that is not so intimidating as, let's say, going to Haiti when they have no training and skills.

Extra hands that can pay their own way are always valuable in the cleanup stage, and they will probably start off with local Believers their church or family is associated with.

I don't see how it would differ from other organisations. Christians helping other Christians is hardly surprising or unexpected.
