  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Guess what? those same 'good' records report a flat earth and geocentrism, don't they?

Uh.. no.

In addition, who would have reported a world-wide flood, if everyone drowned?

By in the earth, he doesn't mean other mythological books buried int he soil. he means the earth itself tells the story. You just have to know the "language" as it were.

(You guys slay me.)

At debating science, absolutely. Though I would say "pwn" is more friendly than "slay".

You mean like, seashells in Nebraska?

Yes, actually. Though I won't explain this again or we'll be going in circles. If you didn't get it the first time around, then clearly you either aren't paying attention or just refuse to learn anything.

Just because your computers can't correlate the data, doesn't mean I have to believe you.

Saying different parts of the earth were flooded at different periods of time, instead of all at once, like the Bible says, doesn't cut it.

It's not necessarily that they were flooded, it's that as geology happens, and the continental plates move, one chunk of land that may have been the ocean floor can wind up being a mountainside millions of years later. It's basic geology.

One of the ways mountains are formed is by folding. As two tectonic plates collide and press together, they gradually get forced upward. These are actually the most common form of mountain.

There I explained it again, when I said I wouldn't. What money can I put that you neither understood or absorbed any of it?

The reasons that you think this was gradual are weak. All we know is that it happened. May have been fast.

I didn;t explain the reasons why I know it was gradual, so thanks for the baseless statement -- however...

The lack of malleability of the earths crust would have yielded a different result if it was fast - something like bit's and chunks of earth scattered about. Since fold-type mountains and the land surrounding them don't look like a chaotic pile of rubble, we know it wasn't the case.

Also, please stop asserting your "different states" -- it's been thoroughly debunked many many times over already.

You don't know anything about geology or physics, so why do you think you can criticize the science? What are your credentials?

You want to hear something funny? I actually don't have any. None. I'm not a scientist. I just happen to pay attention and find the universe truly fascinating. This is what makes it all the more absurd that some folks don't understand so many things that a typical layperson like myself actually do understand.

It's funny how I tend to be more knowledgeable than some self-appointed "experts".

I don't know if this has been brought up, but I have often wondered: If modern humans are as old as scientists speculate, wouldn't our population be much larger than present? Put another way, wouldn't we have been flirting with extinction for a very long time?

I find it admirable that though you are not trained in a specific field of science, that you appreciate it but acknowledge that fact.

Science is completely graspable by the layperson who cares to learn. But then we have people like dad who come in here and lay down absolutes, as if they have a PhD in every field of physics, geology, and cosmology and have personally refuted every piece of evidence out there. There is no humility in dad's position.

Ya, dad -- humble yourself before science and show some respect.

You don't have to understand it, just agree with it -- and I mean 100% too.

If science contradicts what you're being taught from the Bible, then you'd better find another church, or you're going to lose your rights to go to the doctor or use the Internet without being considered ... ironic.

It's okay to ask questions here -- just agree automatically and totally with the answers or get out.

And when science changes because of a new discovery or something, they'll let you know.

Don't you think it would be humble to admit your own ignorance about a subject than to tell people that have been studying it their entire life that they are 100% wrong? I'm trained in biology mostly yet feel comfortable enough commenting on physics and chemistry, but I would never parade around telling physicists and chemists that their theories are full of crap.

I'm not asking for a blind following of whatever scientists say, but critical thinking that is not religiously motivated. You guys have shown your true colors - the only issues you have with science are based on your religion, not what you perceive as fatal flaws in the science itself (because you can barely discuss the mechanics of the science anyway). If Genesis said "On the first day, God created the Big Bang, and billions of years later, the Earth formed. Later, abiogenesis occurred, which resulted in the first cell. Mutation and natural selection diversified life, and eventually human beings came to exist. It was then that God delivered his message to them" then you'd be pro-evolution.

If you guys are so sure about Christianity being right, you have nothing to fear in the science department. Science should always be telling you more about how God did it. But instead, you wage a war on science based on your stringent interpretations of the Bible.

He should at least humble himself before God.. rather than claim he speaks for God.

You don't have to understand it, just agree with it -- and I mean 100% too.
I would love to see you two take a flight on a commercial airliner. Do you guys go up into the cockpit and tell the flight crew what they are doing wrong, while quoting randomly from scripture?

If science contradicts what you're being taught from the Bible, then you'd better find another church, or you're going to lose your rights to go to the doctor or use the Internet without being considered ... ironic.
The irony is that you reject science as "evil wisdom," while using the fruit of this "evil wisdom" all the time. The cave is still waiting for you both.

It's okay to ask questions here -- just agree automatically and totally with the answers or get out.
When did anyone ever claim you or dad should do that??

And when science changes because of a new discovery or something, they'll let you know.
Yes we will.

I'm stopping right here -- for obvious reasons.

I admit almost total ignorance -- (okay, I stretched it) -- I admit total ignorance and get ridiculed for it.

Don't think we're going to win any Brownie points with you guys by admitting ignorance.

You get ridiculed for bragging about how ignorant you are.

Are you here to win Brownie points?

Probably not, but it's a start. Actually correcting your ignorance might earn you some brownie points, though.

The difference between ignorance and stupidity is that ignorance is curable.

Let me reiterate from here: 110

I spend more time correcting you guys, than you guys spend correcting me.

So do you guys [brag].

In fact, it's part of your doctrine, is it not?

You just can't wait for the next discovery to find you wrong?

Sorry, AVET, but I'm not going to follow you around in circles. You claimed you were ridiculed for being ignorant about science. I corrected you and explained you were ridiculed for bragging about how ignorant you are (and being proud of your ignorance). Do you admit your previous statement was wrong?
