  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

knowing everything better and not listening, I hate it!!
(Just lost a useless debate with atheists)
And being so stupid to know everything better and not listen to the Lord, who already told me I shouldn't do it.
Hahaha, what I hate in people, I do myself.
I literally just had that thought before you posted. I thought, "I wonder how many of us do the things we hate other people doing." :D

Bullying.

Just to give you an idea on how passionate I am: I would go as far as prosecuting bullies who drive kids to suicide. The way I see it, they killed that kid.
that's a bit harsh aint it. Some people are hyper sensitive and normal everyday razzing could set them off.

It's a bit harsh to tease someone so much they'd rather kill themselves than be around whoevers teasing them, ain't it?

You are going on the assumption that excessive teasing causes such actions. My point is that it doesn't have to be excessive teasing that can set some people off. If someone kills themselves its tragic, but it is entirely their own choice. To put the blame on other's for the actions of an individual is what I think is harsh.

You cannot always control the actions of others. But you can control your own actions.

You want to help children, help them deal with stressors and bullies.

I'm not talking about teasing at all, I'm talking about kids who are basically tormented at school. There's a fine line between teasing and flat out harassment. It's rare that kids go that far, but there are kids who have killed themselves because of the way other kids treated them...go watch Bully. It's easy to think "it's entirely the kid's choice..." people who are suicidal don't think they have a choice.

Yes, help before it gets to that, definitely. I'm not suggesting wait until it's too late to intervene. The way I see it is the blood is on the bullies' hands.

Well your start of point is the suicide. You are taking that and then building the story from that point. Like hey person XYZ kill themselves, oh look they were teased by ABC, so lets prosecute ABC for XYZ killing themselves.

What it should be is hey XYZ is getting teased really bad by ABC. Lets see what steps can be taken to help XYZ deal with this situation.

I hate people who use suicide as a threat, in an attempt to silent the opinions of others.

I knew of such a faux liberal transsexual person who did this. Question his gender, and you're all of a sudden in danger of being responsible of a suicide. He was against bullying too, yet is a horrible bully himself. Being ruthless to the Christian faith was fine, being against his beliefs is apparently not.

He pretty much represents everything I hate about humanity, lol. He has a whole forum that pretty much backed his putrid opinions up. A group of people that makes any honest, free thinking person, want to puke up vomit.

As much as I dislike bullying myself. I experienced some of it, although I got pretty good at hiding my emotions and blending in, so eventually people gave up trying to get me riled up.

My sister went through some horrible bullying in high school. They were ruthless. Tormented her endlessly. I think she still has some leftover side effects of it to this day.

Having said that, how do you place the blame on kids today, when in many ways it's probably not the kid's faults to begin with? Why not prosecute the parents? What about the teachers who don't care about their students at all? I'm not saying all parents or teachers are bad, far from it. But you have to admit, there's a lot of bad ones out there.

What if the bully has a father who is an alcoholic, and the only way to deal with his issues is to pick on some other kid at school? I'm not saying it makes it right, but sometimes we don't have the full story.

Also you would have to sit down and clearly define the terms of bullying. As soon as people figured out that you could prosecute people for bullying, it would cause a huge mess. We already have people sue'ing because their coffee was too hot, and they spilled it on themselves. I'm not saying it's the same, just that people will take things too the extreme. So the first time little Johnny makes a mean comment about Joey, all of a sudden everyone's in court for it.
