It is perfectly rational to behave morally out of pure self-interest...

David Hume didn't think there was anything rational about moral judgments. Most ethical philosophers have come to agree with his Is/Ought Thesis.

Is/Ought Thesis aside, many times moral behavior is personally painful or costly. Many times moral behavior is not in our personal best interest. Indeed "Greater love has no one than this, that he would lay down his life for his friends." Soldiers who die in order to save others are considered heroes. They acted virtuously at great cost to themselves.

The rationality comes in when deciding what is most conducive to one’s desired outcome. If the desired outcome is to live long and prosper, it rationally follows that one should behave in a way that you would recognize as morally righteous. If the longevity and prosperity of one’s ingroup is at the core of one’s desires, self-sacrificing behavior can be rationally justified in situations like war, scarcity, and other threats. I’m still not seeing a god anywhere in this moral calculus.

Oh look, yet another Christian who thinks he can read minds. Be careful, I thought that was your god's party piece, you don't want to compete there, do you? You know he doesn't like competition.
You can believe whatever nonsense you like, but I find it arrogant and condescending for you to tell others that they really believe it too, even if they don't realize it.
Perhaps you can take a minute and use your mind-reading skills to discover what I really think of your post? There you go. Now you know and I don't have to post it and run the risk of getting banned.
