  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

HUGE signatures

I've noticed some really big signatures on posts, way bigger than the content the user might post. Like there could be a giant banner as their signature; in my opinion, too big. I'd give an example, but I don't want to single anybody out. I think it's distracting (I thought their signature was the message) and it'd be better to reduce a signature to maybe 200 pixels high.

I know what ya mean.
I have show siggies turned off. Makes the thread look cleaner with less scrolling....

We don't have a signature size policy in place, but I'll bring this up.

I think something was announced to Staff awhile ago and some Staffers threw a fit over it, so I don't know if we ever enforced it.

I think something should be put into place - I'm sure there can be a happy medium of how many lines your signature can be. One site I go to only allows 3 lines, which is a huge pain in the butt, but I know some members have like half a page for their signature which is annoying. (Not a huge deal honestly, but just annoying...)

I have, for the time being turned the signatures off until some kind of standard is in place for them. Some of them are waay too big.
