  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Oh, you want a WYSIWYG editor... Dreamweaver. But I would leanr XHTML instead......

Dreamweaver works pretty well, but learn to hand code it first. You will understand what the program is doing that way and be able to manually edit any problems that arise while using it. I have been using DW4 for awhile now and it does everything just fine most the time.

I've heard about Dreamweaver, but what exactly is it?

Just check out Macromedia's website. It will tell you what all it does. It is basically a WYSIWYG editor. You pretty much type stuff on screen much like a word document. Add tables and graphics etc. It does all the HTML coding in the background.

That is why I said it is best to learn how to hand code HTML because then you will understand what it is doing and when you need to manually edit the code, you won't look at it and freak out.

Yes, like i said, learn how to code XHTML instead. HTML is on it's way out. Go to www.w3cschools.com for more info on XHTML.

jko is correct. Don't get scared and think XHTML is something more to learn though. It is really the same, just with more strict rules. The following came right off the site mentioned above and describes the key differences.

-XHTML elements must be properly nested
-XHTML documents must be well-formed
-Tag names must be in lowercase
-All XHTML elements must be closed

What XHTML is aiming to do is make all browsers capable of reading a page. This means computers, cell phones, pdas, etc. It will hopefully eliminate a lot of the problems that are popping up now.

Yep, once you get used to it, it's much much better and cleaner. Plus you get the satisfaction that your code is correct and complies with a standard. :)
