  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am only talking about Gardasil not the other one that starts with 'C' (Cervarix???) I'm pretty sure the research was only on Gardasil whis is what we have in Australia and there was a bit about it in our media for a while. I did have some newspaper clippings but would have thrown them out by now. I will do some googling and see if I can find the original source for you :)

ETA:

The best I can find at the moment with a baby sitting on my lap is an article that mentionis how HPV can also be linked to other cancers but I will still look for a link that shows it more directly.

"Long-term infection by a subset of HPVs can lead to malignant anogenital tumors, including cancers of the anus, penis, vulva, vagina, and cervix (5–7). A proportion of oral cancer is also attributable to HPV (8, 9). While HPV infection has been associated on limited occasions with esophageal cancer and skin cancer, " http://www.jci.org/116/5/1167?content_type=full

"Gardasil also may be useful in preventing anal cancer caused by HPV types 16 and 18." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gardasil

Gardasil, a vaccine against four types of the human papillomarivus (HPV), may reduce the risk of cancers of the vagina and vulva in addition to reducing the risk of cervical cancer. The HPV virus can lead to precancerous or cancerous changes to the cervix, vagina, penis and anus." http://www.cancer-war.com/cancer-pr...-vaccine-may-decrease-other-cancers-risk.html

I should point out that I still wouldn't give it to my daughter (because of the risks and unknowns) but felt it was the right thing to do for myself.
