Not all of us are Jewish - we are pretty much a mixed bag :)

I was not - I came from a rather circuitous route - (childhood/family) Episcopal -> agnostic -> HinduEastern -> Evangelical -> Full-gospel/Charismatic -> Messianic

My husband, on the other hand, WAS born Jewish and was Bar Mitzvah'd Orthodox - got "born-again" in the mid 70's and we both became Messianic in the mid-80's

At this time our lifestyle is fairly indistinguishable from a fairly Conservative Jewish family - except we honor and believe in Messiah Yeshua.

(a side note - my hubby said I was "more Jewish" than he was when we met :) )

My family and I are also not Jewish.

We followed a similar circuitous route, as Henaynei describes for herself ^.
Roman Catholic (with Catholic charismatic experience) ~ a couple of different Pentecostal/charismatic denoms ~ Independant Bible church (and we remain in our fundamental Bible church as well, as we have no MJ congregation here). We began learning about MJ and feeling the draw of the Ruach (Spirit) into MJ when we became rather more fundamentalist believers, about 2 years before we changed to the Indep. Bible church.

We are growing and learning in Judaism and Messianic Judaism. We intensively weigh and learn and embrace or set-aside for now. I would say that "conservative, moderately observant", would probably describe us and our household at this time in terms of Jewish practices... but again, we are not Jews, though we embrace and choose Judaism, knowing it to be the one and only faith commanded and handed down from YHVH Elohim for His people to follow.

I grew up in a nonchurched home, but with good parents who knew the Lord, especially from the O.T. I went to sunday school with friends as a child and later to church with my grandmother. (I have reason to believe my fathers family may have been secret (hidden) jews but not religious).

When I was Baptised in the spirit,I became part of Israel, Gods people, and the spirit led me into the Tanahk. (Probably because I was not being directed by a church denomination at the time. So I became messianic because that is what happens if you allow Gods word to instruct you. Since then (1976) I have served in a number of denominational settings as teacher,shepherd, worship team, assistant pastor, but have remained independent Messianic.
