Well I just joined this group, so we are doing neither... just dropped the pill and taking the month off as "vacation"... it would be sure nice if we could get pregnant this month but its not likely.

I think next month I will start charting using www.fertilityfriend.com... but I am pretty sure that having sex every day isn't the best way, I read that somewhere.... I think its because of sperm depletion... so every other day might be better, if you're thinking of going that way.

Yep, my gyno told me it is best to have sex every other day because of sperm depletion.

For us we use mymonthlycycle.com as well as ovulation predictor tests which work much like pregnancy tests. We don't use those as often because they are pricey. I have a very regular cycle so I can usually tell when I am ovulating or about to.

Well, we'll be TTC in about a week when I finish this pack of BCP. I use mymonthlycycle for charting.
Actually if you're planning on TTC in a week when you finish out your pack you wouldn't be ovulating. You ovulate before you period so that would be most likely a week or two before your period depending on when you usually ovulate. TTC randomly only works if you have sex when you're ovulating ;).

We charted my cycles for three months, got down the length(30days) and when I was ovulating by pain & discharge. Ovulation tests didn't work well for me, then again I've never worked well with pee pregnancy tests either.

I saw a few charts in books and made my own in a notebook, we we're told every other day(sex) and everyday during the ovulation window. The month we got pregnant I lengthened the window my 1 day on each end...don't know if that was a factor or not.

I understand that. I meant we'd be starting to try and conceive, as in, going off birth control and trying to get pregnant over the next couple of months. Not that we'd actually be having sex in a week.

I knew what you meant! I thought of it the same way... its not to say that you will ovulate as soon as your period is over...

And I don't want to be arguementative... but ovulation does not occur right before your period... its more like... in the middle of the cycle, for most women... I want to say days 11-14... or 9-16 to be extra safe :help:

And anyway BN I hope you are having sex in a week just for the fun of it ;)

Oh I see a week or two before your period... right.... which is also a week or two after your period... :D in the middle... we're on the same wavelength

We originally stopped BC back in March and then started in April trying. We tried for 4 months without anything. Then starting in August we started temping and charting. We did that up until January. Then with my following cycle we got a Clear Plan Easy fertility monitor that I used this past cycle and my current cycle. I love the monitor which give clear reads to when I will ovulate.

My husband also went to the urologist this week and he asked him about it and his doctor told him that we should try two more full cycles and if we have not conceived that he wanted DH to go in for collection. But the advice he gave was that we should spread it out more rather than every day try closer to every other day. He said usually after about the 5th day in a row that men are basically just shooting blanks anyway. So that's the advice we got for the next two months. Then we'll go from there.

I'm just hoping and praying that we won't need to do any sort of testing and that we will conceive soon on our own. :crossrc:

My husband just went to the urologist and asked him for some advice with TTC and he said that your best chance is every other day or just spacing it out a little more. He said that honestly by day #5 men are just shooting blanks. He said rather than 4 days in a row it's better to have sex 4 times over an 8 day period. Then they have a chance to replenish. ;)

We aren't doing charting or anything like that. I thought it would stress me out if I was too focused on it. But, I'm still focused on it anyways I guess.
Do you know when you are ovulating? If you're not sure when you are ovulating then your chances of becoming pregnant will not be very good. It's wise to at least chart for that reason.

I don't chart, but I guess I kind of monitor my mucus, not by charting. However, the first time I got pregnant, we didn't chart anything, just had sex every couple of days. If I tried to take my temperature every morning, it would never be at the same time anyways because I am either working days or evenings, so getting up at either 6 am or 11 am. We just have sex every 2 days for my whole cycle.

This might seem small or insignificant... but I am convinced I got pregnant the first time because instead of getting up and using the bathroom after sex like I would have normally done, I fell straight asleep and didn't move until morning. Thus, gravity did not help the spermies escape.

I think I am actually going to try that this time. I usually put a pillow underneath me for about 30 mins or so and then potty because I am prone to bladder infections but I think I am going to stop worrying about that for now. I think I might have a better chance this way.

Yeah... try going to the bathroom right before you put the moves on.... ;)
