How would you like to be buried?

Cremation. I see absolutely no purpose to keeping a chunk of meat that isn't even me anymore around for however many decades or even centuries it will occupy a burial plot. Just put my ashes in an urn and let my survivors decide what to do with them. At worst I'd leave clutter, and I find that less distasteful than actually occupying real estate.

If buried, I would be completely fine with the traditional practice of digging up my bones in several decades and removing them to an ossuary in the interests of saving space.

Buried. All I know is this, I do NOT want to be cremated. I know that burial (as in the services and the casket, ect.) can be very expensive, but I'm sorry, I just can't stand the thought of my body being cremated. I have an extreme phobia of heat and being burned, always have, sooo...you can bury me in a darn body-bag for all I care, I just don't want to be cremated.

I want all useable body parts to go to real people who might need them and the rest to be burned and scattered to the four winds. No casket, no urn, no tombstone. Just gone.

Buried in a marble casket. Or faux-marble, lol.

Not that I believe in the far-fetched idea of literal resurrection of the body (versus restoration), but I think it just makes sense.

Have you considered an "air-burial". Some Indians would put their dearly departed on a platform and the local wildlife would take care of the remains.

They don't oppose the natural decomposition of wild animals, so why would a human be any different? LOL

I would suppose that actual health concerns pertain to about half of the Health Department's jurisdiction.

Actually, I remember reading somewhere that it IS actually legal to bury someone on your property as long as you follow certain guidelines. Like, it has to be so far away from sources of water and blah blah blah. Which, again, is stupid because it's not like people are going straight out to the nearest river to get a drink of water. The water is treated at a plant! And besides, what about all the dead fish and stuff?

Silly Health Department and its silly, unnecessary rules and regulations.

It depends on your state. Local laws may vary. You do have to tell the state what you do with the body for practical reasons (what happens if some future owner of the property starts digging and finds the unaccounted-for corpse?).
