How would you approach a total stranger about Jesus ?

Last night I had a dream , telling me what everyone wants in life, and I am going to shock you but the world wants nothing to do with God these days , deep down inside the world wants peace and dignity , yet they overlook their own creator as a solution.

They (mankind) look towards greed , envy , lust, and all kinds of perversions to fill their hearts with what the creator had created in their hearts in the first place and that is peace, joy, love and respect.

The enemy has stolen all of this and more from the beginning of time , we have been robbed , killed and lied to by the enemy.

That brings up an important question, and that is if you are going to walk up to a complete stranger on the street are you going to start off by telling them that Jesus loves them? Or are you going to tell them that there is a creator that will give them back all of the peace, joy and love that has been withheld from them from the beginning of time? Are you going to add to trier misery? Or are you going to give them that much needed hope that only you can provide at that very moment?

You want to show them hope love and respect from the very beginning , not shove your beliefs down their throat. This will turn off more people than you will ever know.

That is what Jesus called Religion, and He hated Religion, first show people respect and listen to them, their hurts and troubles are sometimes bigger than you can ever know. The first thing that people have been robbed of since the beginning of time is a feeling of human dignity, respect and just someone to listen to them. Do ask if you could pray for them first, you never know.

Perhaps that person has grown old and been just dumped in a nursing home , abandoned and their families have turned against them, they just don’t care.

Their are too many people in this world that just don’t care any more , you have to show them that someone cares, and that person can be you.

Are you going to put your self in their shoes ? 90 percent of the people just don’t care about Jesus or the Devil , but if you first give them a reason to want Him then maybe that 90 percent would be more open.

You have to take baby steps when talking to unbelievers, start off with the beatitudes , then say that there is a creator that loves them , don’t say God or Jesus instead ask them if they know who that creator is?

You would be surprised at some of their answers, let them lead into the existence or non-existence of Jesus and the devil.

Ask them if they know who the enemy is ....

Then when they tell you , you can have a serious conversation with them about it all , then you can lead them into why they would want to have Jesus in the first place , don’t force Jesus down their throats , instead ask them who they think the creator is, everyone at least believes in some form of a creator.

Remember above all you will catch more flies with honey ......

What do you think of the above , what can I add to what I have written from my dream ? I personally know of one person who was just dumped into a nursing home and abandoned by teir family until they passed away a lonely person, yet they firmly believed in Jesus , this alone can give us all hope.

I am presently making a video with a really good friend about a fellow named Henry (name changed to protect the innocent) , he was a matador in Spain , became a really good artist , then was dumped into a nursing home and abandoned by his family , my friend wand I would really like to tell his story.

She inherited all of his paintings and would like to find a good home for some of them, she is an artist herself and together she and I will tell a fantastic story.

I have shoved religion down a person's throat (Matthew 5:34 and Exodus 20:4-5) a few days ago, and that got me in trouble. So yes, we should use nuanced approach. Thank you for this post, brother.

It is simple if you walk up to a stranger. Simply ask: What do they or do they understand what it takes for a person to become a born again child of God. If they do not want to talk, just move on to the next person.

If they do not know or give some kind i am a good person or some type of i have done this this or that (said a prayer, repented of sins, walked a church isle, keeping the 10 commandments, etc..)

Just simply tell them it is by belief in Jesus, believing that Jesus is who He says He is. Which is The promised Messiah/Son of God, the resurrection and the life. And that if they will believe in Jesus they become a permanent born again child of God. you can even have a few verses from The Gospel of John stating this truth.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

-------
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
“Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

------
but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

Thank you for your quick response, that dream made me wonder about another thing , a preacher was preaching about asking Jesus for big things , like 100 houses , or something like that. Should we really be asking for what He said He would give us freely? Or should we be taking the attitude of thanking Him for already giving this need to us in advance ? Just a thought.

You are welcome. We should be grateful for the things we have (no matter how little or how much we own), instead of wanting more.

Nice encouragement. Jesus always moved with compassion. Some witnessing is too canned, it comes off like reading a teleprompter. May the Holy Spirit lead us all and give us his approach for each individual.
Proverbs 11:30 (KJV)
30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

Proverbs 25:11 (KJV)
11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.

Right word, right time, right reception. Gold apples is a big amount in $ but your words can mean more if they are from God.

Looks like in a few days, I will have to make a devotional on Proverbs 11:30, and connect it John 15, Matthew 17:17-20 and to the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Proverbs has some good wisdom for us to follow as Christians.

May the Holy Spirit guide you in your devotional. Hope you can share some of that in a thread or maybe start a blog here too?

I can, however, it may not be here for another week or so. First have to wrestle with some new, free open-source software from a New York company dubbed Nomic and get a few other devotionals out. :) But hey, thank you for the wishes. May the Holy Spirit help us all use discernment. If there is anything off with my devotional, let me know. But, it will probably not be out until mid-July.

Right now, the software is embedding the Catholic Bible, the Catechism and Church history into it. It has 1% progress. If this software works, it could help me make better devotionals (though my computer runs near the limit when running this software). Of course, I write parts of the devotionals as well, with a life anecdote.

People are different and so we need to evaluate wisely how we are going to approach each person about the topic of God, sin, judgement, heaven and hell, eternity and the Gospel.
Colossians 4:5-6 (ESV): "Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person."

As you have said, if you see a need, then fulfil it. But then share the Gospel. When you share the Gospel, make sure you show the person the reason why Jesus had to die for them. Simply telling them that God loves them is not telling them the Gospel. That is like a doctor who gives a cure to a person who already thinks he is healthy. The person will not accept it. First, show the person the illness within his system and then offer the cure. So, they need to be shown their sin and then tell them of the cross. Then they will run for the cure. Which is Christ.
I have shoved religion down a person's throat (Matthew 5:34 and Exodus 20:4-5) a few days ago, and that got me in trouble. So yes, we should use nuanced approach. Thank you for this post, brother.
1 Peter 3:15-16 (ESV): "But in your hearts honour Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defence to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behaviour in Christ may be put to shame."
Don't give up sharing the Gospel. You will have good interactions and bad ones. And when you first start, you may have more bad interactions than good ones. But the more you get out there and do it, the better equipped you will become. But everyone starts somewhere. (But sadly, some people do not start at all)

The cool thing about making mistakes is that they become your life story. So now, you can tell others the mistakes you made and have a laugh about it but also you can teach others. And if you continue, you will be able to show people that you have grown through your mistakes.

100% so. I might find a place to slip this into a devotional or something.

Excellent advice here indeed. This can be one of the more challenging skills to master in mission work but also one of the most rewarding, and like many other things with evangelizing, it's helped greatly by tapping more deeply into the well of one's faith. Our own mistakes are indeed raw material both for our own growth and for setting examples for other's to follow, and inviting them into the same temple to worship and grow as well.
