I'm not ready to count out the 25th Amendment, but if I had to bet I'd say whenever this ends, it will be at noon on the 20th of January. He will either lose his re-election bid in 2020 and leave office when the new president is sworn in, or he will be re-elected in 2020 and serve a second term.
Can someone analyse my #4 please? Is that action possible....ie, having lost the election, the president immediately steps down, allowing the Vice President to take his place until the new president is sworn in?
It's possible Constitutionally, but I'm not sure why Trump, in this particular case, would do so and shorten his occupation of the office by a few months.
I see several scenarios. Perhaps others can correct any misunderstandings I might have, or can suggest other alternatives...?
1. He will be defeated in 2020 and, because there will be a President elected who will not be sympathetic to his plight, Trump will be indicted for, amongst others, his obstruction of justice.
2. Fearing the likelihood of #1, he will step down before the 2020 election, in the understanding that President Pence would do a Gerald Ford and pardon him of all crimes, past and future.
3. He will be impeached, with the same outcome as #2.
4. He will lose the 2020 election and will then step down before Jan 2021, to allow Pence to briefly take the presidency in order to pardon him (not sure of this one...is that how it would work?)
5. He will be re-elected in 2020, allowing him to escape prosecution, as the Statute of Limitations will expire before his second term concludes.
I don't think Donald can count on any loyalty from Pence and much of his corruption took place in New York State which Pence has no authority over anyway. It’s there in my scenario. His best chance of staying out of jail is to have Pence occupy the office, if only for a short while...
And mama and youngest after auditing and lawyer fees will be left with $8.37 and a secret service guard for life?I think a stroke is likely or a series of them. Or maybe his senility will continue to progress and he will be judged incompetent to stand trial. His two eldest children won't be so lucky.
In early 2025 when he is succeeded by president Mike Pence with Ivanka Trump as VP.
You of course mean the last one ever.
