I am currently in a situaton where myself and a small group of Word believing friends are being spoken about in a very negative and untrue way. People within the fellowship are gossiping about us behind our backs and slandering our reputations. It is very hard to be Christ like in that situation but every morning and throughout the day I have to say I will not react to them in a similar way. Praise God, the situation is going to be addressed by church leaders but until then I just have to keep praying and loving these people.

All that has been said about forgiveness above is really helpful.

The Lord has shown me that when someone says or does something hurtful to me, then I am to say under my breath to the person 'I forgive you and God bless you.' Our wars as you know, are not always with the people, but with the powers of darkness working within the person or situation to try to bring us down - they don't want us to receive all our blessings etc. So when we say I forgive you and God bless you, this knocks another demon down - they run a mile! Try it - it works! LOL!

Ephesians 6:12 GN "For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark age."

The Lord has also taught me that when I am faced with opposition and I know in advance that I am going into battle so to speak, then I ask the Lord 'to dress me in His armour according to Ephesians 6:14-17. Then just 'walk in it.' I hope this helps...:)

Well there is little satisfaction in knowing that your loving them makes you right.
I am not sure that we are supposed to feel good about it. It is supposed to hurt, and hurt it does.
That is just to be expected.

remember always in those situations that God will handle them. Remember what he did to Saul? ;) meanwhile, go about your business secure in the promises of God.

The way the Lord has showed it to me is that we all have a race to run. If I stop running my race and doing what God has called me to do to criticize or attack another, then I am endangering my own destiny. If every athlete or footballer stopped playing to answer the grandstand critics, they would never win the game.

From Catherine Brown - Gatekeepers Global Ministries

WHEN YOU HAVE BEEN FALSELY ACCUSED – “I LOVE YOU”

“Then the whole assembly rose and they began to accuse him, saying, “We have found this man subverting our nation. He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar and claims to be Christ, a king.” Luke 23:1-2

“Beloved child of My own - you who have experienced the searing pain of false accusation - know that your reward is in Heaven. Blessed are you when people falsely accuse you and persecute you for My namesake. Rejoice and be glad for you are walking in the footsteps of the heroes of faith who have gone before you to blaze a trail with their surrendered hearts that shout of My love. Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Draw from the well of My endless Love so that you may be called sons of your Father in Heaven. My Love will set the captives free. My Love will disempower the assignments of the enemy and annul the evil agendas of hell. My Love will draw the multitudes to My Father as the multitudes see the power of My Love at work in you. Cast your anxiety upon Me; set your heart free in abandoned Love to Me. You love because I first loved you; greater Love is being poured out on My Bride, for My greater Love is the fountain head and source of global harvest. Without My love you have nothing. Allow My Love to become your all in all and in this way My church will become unstoppable in the flow of the miracle provision of Heaven. Child of my own, I love you; false accusation is overcome by the Cross.”

How should we react to unfair accusations and mistreatment because we believe the truth?

I have noticed that when we are rejected , we can only respond correctly if we stay free of a reactionary position. We are called by God to maintain a proactive attitude. I am not word of faith but I think one of the strengths of the word of faith movement is that it teaches to be proactive about our faith. Therefore our faith is based upon studying the word and following God's destiny for our life rather than reactionary thinking. It is an indentity issue of who we are.

I listened to Keith Moore once teach about not having a self pity or victim mentality. But he did it in a way that was about being proactive. meaning we are choosing our identity based on who God says that we are rather than who other people say we are and then reacting to that.

I believe that movements have their strengths and weaknesses. One of the strong points of word of faith is it teaches that we identify ourselves by what the word of God says.

So my thought is this. What does God's word say about it ? I have seen the power of power confession work. Put it to work in this situation. Make a confession about rejection and persecution. I know enough about word of faith to know a confession to be a good one has to be based upon the word and needs to be positive not just rehearsing what bad things are happening in the situation.

At the risk of using a cliche. use "I" staments versus "you" or "they " statements in a confession.

Something like " my emotional health is determined by God's healing power in my life. He makes me emotionally whole even inthe face of attacks. " you need to find some scripture to go with it and say it enough times to reprogram yourself so that you assosiate those confessions with the attacks instead of rejection.

When I was in University years ago one of my best frineds was word of faith and he would do what I described. When someone would say negative things , he would say out loud " I don't receive that ". It got to the point where when someone would say something like " there is a sickness going around and everyone's been getting sick this month " we would say " I know, I know , you don't receive that ". He didn't argue with people . He just was consistent and determined to stick with what he beleived. when people would attack and mis-characterize him , he would respond " I don't receive that " then he would add " I am defined by what God says about me , no more and no less ".

So maybe the ironic solution is you just need to be word of faith about it....

I came to a point where I realized that those who are critical simply do not care about what I have to say. They only care about winning an argument. For years, I wasted time trying to argue with them and convince them I was right (because I was!), but none of it bore any fruit. They were set in their ways and I was set on God's Word. I no longer have to 'prove' anything to these types of people. I can preach the Word and allow God to do the rest. If people reject the Word, so be it. That's between them and the Holy Spirit.

If we were as certain about what we believe nothing would shake us from believing it -despite what anybody might do to us -even worse than saying (or typing) nasty things.
Thanks TMOG

You have a point. If they do not hear you there is not much you can do. This happened to Jesus so what do we expect.

HI YITZCHAK

really liked the parts about......
"we identify ourselves by what the WORD of GOD says".......

"don't argue with people....just be consistent and stick to what we believe"....

"i don't receive that....i only receive (i am defined by) what GOD says about me".......

"be word of faith about it"......

makes me think of "speak to the mountain and tell it to move into the sea".....take spiritual authority and REMOVE spiritual darkness.......and then......CREATE SPIRITUAL LIGHT......

call things that are not as though they are....."GOD causes even my enemies to be at peace with me"....."my vindication comes from the LORD"......"no weapon formed against me shall prosper"......call in the LIGHT......CREATE GOD'S TRUTH in the situation by using our mouths to speak HIS WORD.....change the natural using the power of the SPIRIT of GOD.....

your words Yitzchak caused me to see.....don't waste time and energy reacting to the people....focus time and energy on PRO-ACTing .......remove spiritual darkness and then create GOD'S LIGHT....
excellent word Yitzchak
excellent thread didaskalos

How should we react to unfair accusations and mistreatment because we believe the truth?

WoFers will endure persecution. It is inevitable. If you hold to the word, teach the word, and live the word; you will endure persecution for the word.

Matthew 13:21
21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

Matthew 5:10-12
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

When they tell lies and misrepresent you and the wonderful things the Lord has revealed to us, we are to take it with patience and never return lie for lie or railing for railing.

1 Peter 2:19-23
19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

God is sooooooo good. I was dealing with this very issue since last night and suddenly, here is the topic thread brought back up for me to read, be encouraged, and strengthened. Thank you Lord for your faithfulness.
