How valuable was CCD to you?

I'm Episcopalian. In a recent discussion in our parish, we talked about possibly starting a CCD-like class in our church, designed to offer our young people more thorough instruction in the Christian faith than they can currently receive in the mere 1/2 hour a week of Sunday School they attend.

With that in mind, I have a question: For those of you who attended CCD, how valuable was that to you? Did it enrich your faith and knowledge and bring you closer to God? Was it a dumb thing that you sat through because the grownups made you? Something in between? On paper, the idea of CCD sounds really good; but I only want our parish to pursue the idea if CCD is something that genuinely works well in practice.

I really enjoyed it
I learned a lot in my CCD classes, I went to CCD until I was 15 I think? I know I was in high school and still going for a bit

we had a teacher who would sometimes teach pious opinion as true doctrine, never anything suspicious, just stuff like Limbo
