How valuable is online fellowship?

Online fellowship is very important, but some people like to discourage it, for whatever reason.

Thanks for your reply. I believe folks are tied to tradition. The Lord and His apostles didn't have internet and computers, and perhaps people find it difficult to adjust to modern things.. Computer software also makes bible study much easier.

Or it could be something else, perhaps it has to do with sacraments and laying on of hands. Some people feel like internet threatens those things.

I think it is amazing how one can simply put a little pressure on a black plastic cube that bobbles and in return, people from all nations and that of all ages can communicate and talk with one another.

I could see it being valuable but I would think there would be times where it would not always bear good fruit and thus, becoming invaluable. If you were to forsake your prayers in replacement of sitting behind your computer, for example. Or allowing for an addiction to manifest. Or, even perhaps succumbing to one of the seven deadly sins: pride (something I need to work on).
However, as with most people on this site, the positives far outweigh the negatives and it poses as an outlet for followers of Christ, a warm welcoming environment where people can aid each other with their walk with Christ but not only that: we all share that walk together!

Whether a step or three behind, we are not walking this path alone.

I agree. You make some good points.

Hello.

I believe the internet is a good tool for spreading the word and christian support.

I believe more so that human interaction on a personal level is way better. Churches need to survive to be a support for the community at large.

I have had more luck with non believers by speaking to them face to face then i have ever on the internet. The early church was built of evidences - miracles and the evidence of the Spirit.

In regards to online fellowship is ok but i prefer human interaction. I prefer to hang with people and have the conversation move more organically. See their faces and actually laugh together.

We must not lose sight of tradition. I dont want to see physical churches go, we must excerise caution with being untraditional.

Churches need young ppl.

God bless you all through Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit.

I believe your opinion represents the opinion of others who feel that online fellowship threatens church attendance. I dont believe it can hurt church attendance, but instead would pick up the slack where the Church leaves off. Many people might never hear things in Church, that they would hear online. (Both good and bad things unfortunately) Some people might not go to church and never hear the Word preached, but online they will. Online fellowship is very valuable and very spiritual too.

Also, this thread isnt about Church attendance. I dont mind discussing church attendance but i want to highlight the value of online fellowship

I will say this much: Online fellowship, may have saved my faith, at least once. Most likely many times.
Without online fellowship i would be ignorant of many things. I learn from the scriptures, but fellowship can promote more understanding.

I agree with most of what you say. Online fellowship has its advantages but it will never equal the physical Church which is physical fellowship. Online fellowship = online church.

2 or more at what moment is fellowship.

I do not disparage online fellowship. Im here as we speak. ;) and it saved talisfox. I just wonder on a larger scale if it is more effective

Church promotes a denomination which answers to themselves only. However, online they answer to the majority of Churches. I believe there is much power in online fellowship, but face to face fellowship is good for real life friendships, and friends help each other.

What you say i dont disagree with entirely

Denominations are about how some part of the bible is interpreted or a doctrine etc. Somewhere your interpretation will fit with a denomination. Denominations are unavoidable.

Of course they are unavoidable, but that doesnt make it right. Denominations are often very different. Catholicism and Protestants for example, they're very different.

good question
I think it important to know some members more familiarly. Otherwise it is all debate/information sharing. Kind of robotic.
But there are limits. You cant be friends with everyone.

It doesnt make it right. I agree. There are many false ones out there and can be diverse or have a schism over something trivial and small.

We should question our beliefs and seek the unpolluted waters of the Word.
