Feelings are feelings. They aren't to be ignored, but they aren't the only indicator of things, and generally they can be a poor indicator of reality. Feelings are changed by your perceptions, your thoughts, things you hear or see, and last night's 5-alarm chili rolling inverted iron maidens through your digestive system.

The point is that your feelings after a break-up are often fickle and based on superficial things. That doesn't mean your heartache is insignificant, but here's my advice:

Get involved in living life. Don't wallow in your grief. Depression will drag you down, but you can fight it by staying active. I'm not sure if your ex-girlfriend is "the one"; forums on the Internet with complete strangers are rarely good places for that kind of advice.

What I can tell you is that you should make every effort to involve yourself in making yourself a better person. Make a list of your goals as a single person, and start trying to achieve them. You don't want to look back at this point in your life as wasted time because you were caught in depression, self-pity, and indecision.
