Have been wondering, while I know we are to glorify God in everything we do, should rests be a daily occurrence or bi-daily or what? While I know that it might be the will of God that we should rest, lest we grow weary and the devil exploit us with blasphemous thoughts, I still kind of feel like my rest (at end of day) isn't very submissive to Christ and that there's still work to be done. Might be conviction, since frankly my life isn't very in line with His will (am working on it, dw) but still feels like it's a waste of time that could be given to something for Him. Should this rest still exist?

(btw, when I speak of rest: I mean reading, non-Biblical stuff maybe mixed in w/ Biblical stuff, I actually find it fun now compared to my pre-saved life, + just exercise or maybe even games. I know we shouldn't permit this to become an idol or to let it chafe against God but what should rest encompass?)

This is how I'm able to spend time with El Shaddai every day:
I wake early to allow for prayer and bible study daily and when I have difficulty praying - which happens often - I begin my prayers by giving thanks for all the blessings He has bestowed upon me and my wife.
Each individual blessing, and I'll mention those that I am too thick headed to even notice. :)

Everything is through Jesus Christ. Why else would He have voluntarily given His sin free life?
When you have performed this for a few weeks, it'll have developed as a habit and you will not feel right on those days you decide to skip it. This is a GOOD habit so don't skip daily communion with God and ruin it for yourself! Each of your days will be an improvement over how they are today, because you will have more of an awareness of God in your life.

Mat.5:8
8Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.

Obedience, submission and agreement in sincerity will enable you to see God in your daily life. Remain in the light.

It sounds as if you're dealing with two separate, if related, issues.

- How to set aside time to nurture your relationship with God
- What is a reasonable mix of "down time" with more disciplined use of time.

I think both can probably be dealt with if you work out what your priorities are at this point in your life (eg. relationship with God, study, work, family, and so on) and what you think a reasonable time commitment for each might look like. Then look at how you might fit those time commitments together in a sustainable way. (That will change in different seasons of life!) And rest is an important part of that, because if you don't get the rest you need, whatever you're doing won't be sustainable.

The thing is that whatever you do has to work for you. I am hopeless at mornings and so I don't expect myself to do the "get up early to pray" thing. It doesn't work for me. But I've learned how to build prayer time into a daily/weekly rhythm that I can sustain.

Welcome to CF! I dont believe our Father's wish is a scheduled relationship. He is our Rest. From there we walk with His Holy Spirit daily displaying the fruits of that relationship to others and in turn pleasing Him.
Blessings.
