They seem to have a thing for beards. Half the elders in my church, and all of the teaching elders, have full beards.

When I was growing one in November, the pastor actually struck up a conversation with me. When I shaved it off on dec 1, he hasn't spoken to me since. Correlation or causation? Who knows.
