Psalm 38:

18 Yes, I confess my iniquity; I am troubled by my sin.
Recognition of sin, honest admission, genuine troubled conscience.

God promised in 1 John 1:

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Paul distinguished two kinds of sorrows in 2 Corinthians 7:

10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.
How to live with regrets?

Don't live with regrets. Deal with them. Turn your regrets and shame into works of repentance.

Philippians 3:

13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead
God's forgiveness is complete. Past failures don't define the future. Growth comes from mistakes. Forward movement is key. Change is always possible.
