How to live in victory?

Hello! I'd like to ask for advice on how to live a life that shows Christ is victorious, not Satan and sin.

I find myself getting discouraged by sin around (and within) me: pride, selfishness, shirking responsibility, sexual immorality, materialism, anger, etc.

I am sorry to say, but sometimes I see the sin more than I see the person. It's hard to muster up love when one just sees sin. It's hard to love the sinner while hating the sin. I would even go so far as to say, it baffles me sometimes as to what God loves about us (though I know He does love us, each and every one of us).

The overall truth is that Christ has won the victory, but can anyone advise me how to go about living that out practically? Thank you very much.

Jenster, thanks first for the PM it really lifted me up this morning!!
Secondly, you raise an excellent topic, one that I think gets over looked. How to live out life in the practical sense....as God meant us to. I think I look to 1 Corinthians a lot for that one. The whole bible sends us inumerable important messages but for me 1 Corinthians sums it up, what does any of it mean without love? Faith hope and love, but the greatest of these is love. Love is the opposite of sin. I find I do most of my sinning when love (for others, for God, for myself...) takes second fiddle to other feelings and attitudes....greed, resentment, self-pity, envy....
I know this may sound too simplistic but can you allow yourself to be the embodiment of love, more often? For love leaves no room for all those other things....
Bless you, Kbean.

2 Cor 5:14 Whatever we do,it is because Christ's love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for everyone, we also believe that we shall have all died to the old life we used to live.
He died for everyone so that those who receive His new life will no longer live to please themselves. Instead, they will live to please Christ, who died and was raised for them.

I think that applies to your question.

Also see 1 Thess 3:12-13
Hope that helps.... :)

Thanks, everyone, for your wise words, and especially the Scripture, kbean. The Word is powerful for rebuking, correcting and teaching. I see that I've been failing to love, and am powerless to love save for that which God has placed in me. Help me O Lord to love as You love. That's the great commandment, alright, and the great challenge.

I appreciate y'all pointing me back in the right direction.

God bless.

The topic you are disucssing and asking about is called Sanctification. Try going to your local christian bookstore and ask about books on sanctification and christian living........
it is a hugh topic....sometimes the problems you discussed are the results of sin and stubborness. Other times it is the result of immaturity....and sometimes it is just the battle we face in this world.......
For personal victory , fasting is a biblical means to overcome in battles.....counseling can be helpful in renewing the mind and healing the emotions.....It is not an easy thing to get body, soul and spirit all co-operatin together to serve the Lord.......It is most often a process rather than a one time event.......

Power is manisfested in the a willingly yeilded heart to the Lord Jesus Christ. Because we must come to the point of knowing that we, in our own strength, can do nothing against the enemy. In our own strength we can never win a battle. It is alone through Christ's death that we can even have hope at all.
The ways of walking in this are simple, but hard. Study the Bible, memorize verses, stay accountable, study the Bible with ther strong Christians on a normal basis.. Through these you will be able to gain the victory over the world, the flesh, and the devil.
Look to Christ in all things, and when you are tempted, call to Him for help...

Thank you all for caring. I admit, I do get disconnected from the Vine and then turn around and want easy answers. My bad. Thanks for encouraging me and not judging me for that. I appreciate the grace.

Yitzchak, I appreciate the explanation of sanctification. I will look in a Christian bookstore for some resources, and ask for the Lord's help in staying closer to Him.

God bless you all, dear hearts. :)
