I find it difficult to pray out loud and in groups. Does any one have any advice on how to improve my prayer life?

This is one area where the Catholics have a perfect solution. They have a prayer for everything, and it can be memorized and said silently to your self. Here are a couple that I carried over into my Protestant prayer life:

Regardless of where I eat I always say this prayer before a meal:

"Bless us,
O Lord,
and these your gifts,
which we are about to receive
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen."

Regardless of what church I'm in I always say this prayer before Communion:

"I confess to almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have sinned through my own fault, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and in what I have failed to do; and I ask blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God."

Note: A bible book Store will have little Catholic Prayer Cards. Many of us have started our Christian walk with those little prayer cards.

I agree, written prayers can be very helpful.

Something I like to do, is walk while I pray. It keeps my mind going on the same track. That doesn't directly help the group prayers, but helps with boldness. You can even talk a little where you're not afraid people will hear you.

hi! Set an appointment with God. Try to pray every 6:00 pm, and early morning as you wake up or whenever you can't sleep at night or around 3:00 am everyday. Also have time to read the Bible. For there are at times when answers to your questions will be answered by reading the bible. Any time would also be a great time to pray to God, specially if you are all alone and are not doing anything. God hears us. He is All knowing.

Confession (confess our sins and the things we forget to do like help someone)

Offering this since it's saying prayers in front of people that's a concern- just say prayers out loud in private. By speaking in private, it will help when you say prayers in public.

I believe you are talking about spontaneous prayers. They come from the heart. Here is a suggestion that should help you:

Use the Book of Psalms as your guide to prayers. For example,

"The lord is my shepherd I shall not want..."

You can paraphrase this in a prayer like "Lord, you are my guide and I look to you in my time of trouble. Help me know what to do that I may overcome..."

Read God's word to know what's there then go back and find it when you want to pray about something. Use an online concordance if you don't have one.

Yes, first of all, ask God to cleanse your heart and guide you in praying in groups. Ask for His strength (which is sufficient) to overcome timidity, fear, and hesitancy in praying publically. Trust and believe He will do this.

To enable praying out loud and in groups, develop the practice of praying to God when you are alone. The Lord tells us to be still and know that He is God. So take a quiet time each day in which to praise God quietly and listen to what He puts in your heart to pray. Reading the scriptures daily will also help facilitate your prayer life in general and build your confidence.

You can practice praying out loud to Him privately and you will be surprised how this helps you pray out loud when others are present whether one-on- one or in a group.

I believe that it does not matter how loud you pray, what matter, is what and why you pray your prayer. Also, what matters is if we mean, what we pray or say with our mind. Do we mean it in our hearts?

First, start your prayers with praysing and worshiping God, with a psalm, a song, or a hymn. Spend some time worshiping and praising him for who he is, for his love, power, wisdom, holiness, greatness, because he is the creator of everything, and is worthy to be praised.

Also, give thanks to him, for what he has done or what he is doing in your life, and for what he has given you.

Then, offer your petitions to him, and ask him to help you with your problems, or to satisfy your needs.
