• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hey!
I have a problem with cutting, like most girls, but I have been really working on not cuttig. Sometimes it is just too hard, and I sometimes cut! I have alot of scars up and down my arms from cutting, and was wondering if their was anything to help make the scars dissapear. I really don't like having scars up and down my arms. Any help would be much appreciated, and help for not cutting. It is so addicting, and I have done it too long. Thanks for your advice, and take care!
God Bless

If you can't get it to fade in time for prom you can get a water-proof concealer (like people use for zits) it will make it less noticable and won't smudge on your dress Get it a shade lighter than your skin tone to minimize red and purple colors. It will be two to ten dollars and you can get it at any drugstore or wally world (make sure it is waterproof so it won't smudge) :)
This has kind of become part of my wardrobe whenever I wear short sleeves

the scars are the hardest bit as even if you are trying not to self harm, they are a constant reminder :( friends tell me they aren't as noticable as I think they are so be encouraged that people may not automatically know what they are if they seem them at your prom. Hope you have fun!

Vitamin E oil, scar-reducing cream from the drug store and maybe even cocoa butter may help. I heard cocoa butter reduces the appearance of stretch marks and may help with scars. But concealer is always a quick fix. Please do not be discouraged when you fall. God will pick you up, just go to him and ask for His help. I pray you strengthen your support system and can find someone on this Earth, that works to live like Jesus, whom you can call on to help you when you get the urge to cut. Please don't give up hope! We are all in this together! Jesus loves you!
